One of the greatest gaming franchises of all time is back. And now a fresh start could catch the attention of the most loyal and longtime Mortal Kombat gamers.
NetherRealm’s famous game series returns with a vengeance to video games, after much anticipation and anticipation from fans, and promises to be a success with its latest release. We’re talking about “Mortal Kombat 1”!
The developer company has finally announced the official trailer for the new sequel in the franchise, revealing great information to the public.
One of them, for example, is the reveal of some of the players’ favorite characters who are inevitable in a sequel. We did a complete analysis of the trailer and separated the main names present in the clip and who will probably be playable.
Characters revealed in ‘Mortal Kombat 1’ so far
The trailer begins with a man opening his eyes and a narration that appears to be the voice of protagonist Liu Kang. After the main entrance, a character with a hat very similar to Raiden’s appears on a farm looking out over a field, while the protagonist explains that this is a new world of his own creation.
The farmer goes to meet another man, who raises his head and puts on a hat. This time, the resemblance is clear to the iconic and ancient character Kung Lao, who looks directly at the first character. That’s when a lightning bolt appears, confirming that this is indeed the god of thunder.
The trailer continues with a woman wearing a blue mask inside a carriage, obviously Kitana. In front, sits another girl, who covers her toothy face with a pink mask, revealing another fan favorite, the feared Mileena.
Then, the two most well-known characters from the games appear looking at each other, Sub-Zero and Scorpion, as if in a battle, but the narration shows that at this moment the deadly rivalry does not yet exist.
The next cut reveals the first appearance of Liu Kang descending from the heavens as a god, joining the two peasants from the beginning. A fiery portal opens in front of the group, from which emerges the iconic and powerful villain, Shang Tsung.
Other analyses and revelations
The script makes it clear that this is a new timeline created by Liu Kang, as a continuation of the franchise’s latest success, but it also takes the plot back to the events of the first release in 1992. In addition, the scenes are extremely brutal, full of death and blood, meeting the audience’s expectations.
At the end of the trailer, Shang Tsung appears with a warning that the character must be purchased, meaning he probably won’t be playable. In addition to all this, NetherRealm announced on its official website that the character Johnny Cage will also be in the game, with a reimagined version.
The new “Mortal Kombat 1” is scheduled for release on September 19th this year and will be available for Xbox Series X, PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
