
It won’t be long before the leaks arrive! Less than a day after MSI confirmed the imminent arrival of its next portable console, leakers are already having a field day revealing the technical picture. First of all, a name we have acquired in the last few hours: MSI CLAW. Here is the new member of the market that is starting to fill up between Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go and the upcoming Switch 2… So what will MSI CLAW stand out for?
We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out for sure, but if the latest leaks are confirmed, we can’t deny that MSI has shown a certain boldness in its component selection. Indeed, according to the specifications detailed in a benchmark spotted on Geekbench, the MSI CLAW will be powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, the manufacturer’s latest generation Meteor Lake CPU. This is not a trivial thing.
MSI makes bold choices on CLAW technical page
As a matter of fact, portable console manufacturers currently prefer AMD processors. The Steam Deck is equipped with Ryzen Z2, while ROG Ally opted for Ryzen Z1. A non-random choice: unlike AMD, Intel processors generally consist of Efficiency cores and Performance cores, which is not ideal for gaming.
The Core Ultra 7 155H is no exception to this rule: it includes 6 P Cores and 8 E cores, as well as 2 LP Cores; A total of 16 cores for 22 threads, which is equivalent to twice the specs offered by the Ryzen Z1. . For the graphics part, MSI CLAW will be able to rely on Intel’s Arc Alchemist architecture with 8 Xe-Cores clocked at 2.25 GHz. Everything will be backed by 32GB of RAM, again twice as much as what we find in the ROG Ally and Legion Go.
Therefore, if we refer only to this little information, the console is very, very promising. One thing is for sure, competitors will be keeping a close eye on this because MSI has gone all out for its first machine. Come to CES 2024 to explore further.
