Mass Effect 3 romance mechanics mean you can play alongside your chosen alien war hero of choice in the Legendary Edition, with the jawbone inserted into whoever looks the cutest to you. There are plenty of options, but they differ slightly depending on which Shepherd you play, even if Mass Effect 3 is, romantically speaking, a less restrictive game than its predecessors. That’s why we’ve put together a complete romance guide for the legendary release of Mass Effect 3 below, with all the characters you can date and which choices lead to which relationships.

Unlike previous installments in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, you can switch options to flirt with several potential Mass Effect 3 romance suitors at once without negatively impacting your relationships with the characters. However, there will come a point when your love interest will question you about your intentions or a choice of action will emerge to confirm your relationship, and it’s where you have to decide whether to sign the deal or walk away.
Note that certain options only apply if you’re carrying a pre-established Mass Effect 2 romance with that character, and certain “lesser” Mass Effect 3 romance options will not unlock the Paramour Achievement or Trophy. important if you are trying to get all the rewards as mentioned above.
Devotion to your Mass Effect 3 romance
While chasing several different Mass Effect 3 romance options at once isn’t as problematic as in previous episodes, some characters have key moments in your relationship where you need to commit or scold them. If you commit, the dialogue options for other characters will change and you won’t be able to pursue other Mass Effect 3 romance possibilities, but if you turn them off, your alternative option will remain open.
Multiple romantic breakouts are possible, especially if you carefully time your interactions with the aforementioned characters that don’t trigger the Paramour Achievement or Trophy, but it’s often not possible to maintain a Mass Effect 3 romance with several team members at once. Here are the key commit interactions you should be aware of:
Ashley Williams: When you meet Ashley at Apollo’s Cafe on the Citadel, talk to her about her father and then answer her question positively about where your relationship is headed.
Garrus Vacharian: When Garrus arrives in Normandy, talk to him and reaffirm your love. Later, when you meet for a date at the Presidium, you will have the option to have intercourse.
Jack: After completing the Grissom Academy: Emergency Evacuation and Priority: Citadel II missions, find Jack in the Bar of Purgatory. Join his comments about fighting alongside him to reaffirm your romance.
Kaidan Alenko: When you meet Kaidan at Apollo’s Cafe in Kale, respond positively to his comments about seeking a relationship.
Kelly Rooms: Priority: Following the Fortress II quest, talk to Kelly after finishing each subsequent main story quest. Sometime later, Kelly will ask about a “significant other” and Shepard must answer that it’s Kelly for a quick romance interaction. It’s also possible to pursue romance with another character, but you must commit to Kelly first.
Liara T’Soni: Priority: Following the Citadel II quest, meet Liara at the Citadel near Meridian Place Market and talk to her about her family before pursuing the option to commit to the relationship.
Miranda Lawson: After warning Miranda of the dangers she may face, she invites you to her private room in the Citadel. Put him at ease after he has explained to you to confirm your relationship.
Samantha Traynor: After inviting Samantha to your cabin, let her use your shower and then follow the prompt to join her.
Steve Cortez: Convince Steve to take shore leave, then reassure him when you see him around the Citadel. When you find Steve at the Purgatory Bar, dance with him and kiss him whenever it’s convenient to commit to your romance.
Tali’Zorah vas Normandy: After diplomatic talks, summon Tali to your cabin using the intercom, then choose the appropriate responses to stay connected to your relationship. You need to do this before starting the Priority: Rannoch quest, otherwise you won’t be able to complete the romance.
