Madden 23 cover vote predictions revised

10. Tom Brady (QB, Pirates of Tampa Bay)

EA wouldn’t do it… would it? Evergreen Brady was supposed to retire in February, but he reversed that decision after just 40 days. Trade rumors abound for Miami, but he’s currently set to line up behind center once again for the Buccaneers. He will enter next season at the age of 45 and already has all the great quarterback honors. And you know, seven Super Bowl rings.

9. Patrick Mahomes (QB, Kansas City Chiefs)

If one Madden 22 cover star makes this list, the other should too. In addition to being featured alongside last year’s game, the Chiefs talisman has completely taken over the shelves in Madden 20. (Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson took the Madden 21 honor.) Mahomes failed to secure another title for Arrowhead last season, but it still had another tough campaign with 37 touchdowns and 4,893 yards detours.

8. Derrick Henry (RB, Tennessee Titans)

Titans blitz was ‘leaked’ ahead of last year’s game as a Madden 22 cover athlete by a Gamestop employee. The only problem? Said employee got the facts wrong and a social media brouhaha was futile. Still, despite only starting eight games due to injury, he came close to 1,000 yards and put himself back into cover talk. However, there is a more deserving runner up based entirely on the 2021 form. Well…

7. Jonathan Taylor (RB, Indianapolis Colts)

Indi’s hot defender was absurdly great in 2021, energizing the Colts offense and winning the fantasy leagues at the same time. He got 1,811 yards on the ground, almost 600 more than Cleveland’s closest contender, Nick Chubb. 40 receptions were successfully received. If the cover honor goes to Taylor, it will feature a step-back game for the first time in a decade when Adrian Peterson is selected for the oddly named Madden 25.

6. Ja’Marr Chase (WR, Cincinnati Bengals)

This could be a very early season for the Bengals wide receiver, who ran 81 receptions and 1,455 yards on their way to the Rookie of the Year awards. Chase was a major contributor to Cinci’s shocking Super Bowl race and marked the franchise’s first trip to the big one since 1988. 5. Joe Burrow (QB, Cincinnati Bengals)

He was awarded the Comeback Player of the Year in the season-ending hall of fame, surviving a torn ACL and MCL to steer Cincinnati’s Super Bowl charge.

4. Aaron Donald (DT, Los Angeles Rams)

Since Madden 15, when Seattle Seahawks’ Richard Sherman received the award, no defender has been chosen as the protagonist of the series. Donald was our outside bet to break that streak last year and this time he has an even stronger case. The monster D-lineman destroyed the Bengals in Super Bowl LVI and was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his eight active seasons.

3. John Madden (HC, NFL Legend)

Oakland’s king of commentary and digitized football sadly passed away in December at the age of 85. His image hasn’t actually gotten ahead of the game that’s been carrying his name for 22 years, but if EA wanted to pay tribute to this great guy, this would be it. this is the time to do it. Madden’s nickname has been tied to the flagship Gridiron series since it first landed on MS-DOS and the Commodore 64 in 1988.

2. Travis Kelce (TE, Kansas City Chiefs)

If EA thinks that two caps in three years is enough for Mahomes love, there’s a strong chance it will turn attention to KC’s other mega-marketable superstar. Rob Gronkowski was the last tight end to return to Madden 17, and many think Kelce is already on par with the Patriots and Buccaneers legend – and perhaps even the best person to ever play in the position. One day a Madden cover is inevitable.

1. Cooper Kupp (WR, Los Angeles Rams)

Eight catches, 92 yards and two goals earned Kupp the MVP award at this year’s Super Bowl. Quarterback Matthew Stafford has already appeared on the box in his Detroit Lions days, and those stats also secure the Rams’ top spot for the all-star in Madden 22 cover odds. He will be the first wide gunner selected to stand out in the series since Antonio Brown’s return to Madden 19. Let’s hope EA doesn’t ask him to wrestle teammate Donald for the ultimate honor.
