A Sony is shaking up the world of video games once again with the launch of the brand new PlayStation 5 Slim, an improved version of the gamers’ favorite.
With significant changes in size, design and features, this lighter version of the console promises to win hearts around the world.
Smaller but no less powerful
The new PS5 is around 30% smaller than the original model, making it more compact and attractive. The Slim’s dimensions are 358 x 96 x 216 mm for the standard model and 358 x 80 x 216 mm for the digital edition.
Furthermore, it weighs just 3.2 kg in the standard model and 2.6 kg in the digital version, a notable reduction of 18% to 24% compared to the previous model.

The most notable update to the Slim version of PlayStation 5 is the increase in storage space. With a spacious 1TB SSD, you’ll have plenty more space for your games, apps, and files. Say goodbye to constantly worrying about storage capacity.
The design of the PS5 Slim is a real show in itself. The front cover features a crucial change: a horizontal cut that allows the disc player to be removed, making it even more versatile. With the new design, the console gains a more modern and elegant aesthetic.
An innovative feature of the PS5 Slim is the option of a disc reader Blu-Ray detachable ultra HD. This means that players can choose to purchase the digital edition of the console and later upgrade with the disc player, bringing more flexibility and savings to gamers.
The disc player will be sold separately for US$79.99 (about R$406 before tax). The new PlayStation 5 (PS5) Slim will be available from November this year in selected stores in the United States at competitive prices.
The standard model will be sold for US$499.99 (approximately R$2,542 before taxes), while the digital edition will be available for US$449.99 (approximately R$2,288). The global launch will take place in the following months, gradually replacing previous models.
