‘Is Chop dying in GTA Online?’ It’s a fair question to ask for answers on how much Franklin’s canine friend is loved. The couple is returning in the GTA Online The Contract update after being away from the scene for a few years, meaning they’ve definitely aged a bit since we last saw them in-game in the GTA 5 storyline. While it’s great to see Franklin and Chop return to GTA Online, you might be a little worried about our favorite Rottweiler kicking the bucket, so if you need to know if Chop died in GTA Online then it’s ahead.

Does Chop live in GTA Online?

Once you start the Contract by setting up the agency, your first meeting will confirm that Chop is alive in GTA Online. In the first cutscene, Franklin introduces his canine friend lying on the dog bed in the corner of the office and says, “There’s my old friend Chop over there. Damn, he doesn’t get around much anymore.” Later in The Agency, when you meet Chop, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with him and pet him, but only with him. You cannot play or do any training that you can do as a single player.

Nearly eight years since the events of GTA 5 in the gaming world, Chop is understandably worn out now, but it’s definitely alive and well taken care of. If you visit 3671 Whispymound Drive, Franklin’s home in Vinewood Hills, you’ll find that Chop still has a doghouse in the backyard under the stairs from street level.

Is Chop dying in GTA Online?

So does Chop die in GTA Online? Fortunately for all pet lovers, the answer is no, but after eating a pack of Lamar’s LD Organics best ‘herbal’ product, they got a close call earlier in The Contract! In addition to appearing at various points around the Bureau, Chop appears in the first Short Journey mission unlocked after completing the Dr Dre story, helping Franklin and Lamar by attacking the members of the Vagos and taking the heroes to the warehouse.

Unlike in GTA 5, there are no cases where our dog is around while players have access to weapons, so it’s not possible for Chop to die in GTA Online. However, even if you do manage to ‘kill’ him during the single-player campaign, he’s only really injured and will be back in the game after a short while like other major NPCs. So you can be sure that nothing bad will happen to Chop and that he will happily spend his days with Franklin and his friends.
