Minecraft Respawn Anchor allows you to set a Nether-sized spawn point, but this must be created using Crying Obsidian. Rebirth Anchors will be valuable to all Minecraft players who like to spend a lot of time exploring the Nether for rare resources, but building one is very difficult. The rare Obsidian variant required can only be found in the randomly generated Ruins Gate, so you will need to encounter one of them at some point. If you’re a Minecraft veteran, you’ll know that beds don’t work in the Netherlands. In fact, they will explode if you try to use one. However, a Respawn Anchor allows you to set a spawn point within the Nether, and best of all, it won’t explode. Using a Respawn Anchor makes the Nether a little more livable, especially for anyone starting out on long Nether expeditions.
Once you have one (details on how to create a Respawn Anchor in Minecraft below), you need to charge it with Glowstone. One Glowstone block is equivalent to one respawn, and you can add up to four blocks, meaning you can respawn four times before you need to respawn. But you need to make sure that the surrounding area is not blocked, or you will see “You don’t have a home bed or rechargeable respawn anchor or it’s blocked” when you die.
Interestingly, Hoglins will escape from Respawn Anchors, so you don’t run the risk of having someone with you when you respawn. Using a Rebirth Anchor on Earth will cause it to explode, so don’t even try.
How to make a Minecraft Rebirth Anchor
To craft a Respawn Anchor you will need three glowstone blocks and six Weeping Obsidian. The recipe is in the picture above; There are three Weeping Obsidians in the top row, three Shining Stones in the middle row, and three more Weeping Obsidians below.
Make sure you know how to find minecraft diamonds
To obtain the Crying Obsidian, you need to find a Ruined Portal and they can be found in the Overworld or the Nether. They can be found in every biome in both dimensions and also have a 5% chance of being a Giant Ruined Portal. Once you find a few blocks, dig it up with a Diamond Pickax like regular Obsidian. Weeping Obsidian Blocks can also be found in Bastion Remnant chests and can be obtained by bartering with Piglins when you give them Gold Ingots, but the chances are pretty slim.
To get Glowstone, you have to mine it in the Nether and it’s usually found hanging from ceilings in large clumps. When you dig with a regular pickax it will turn into Glowstone Dust, but four bits of Glowstone Dust can be converted into a Glowstone Block. If you’re making enchanting Minecraft and you have a Silk Touch pickaxe, you can dig Glowstone without breaking it into dust.
The Respawn Anchor is currently the only use case for Crying Obsidian, aside from a decorative block. Unless you detonate it in the Overworld, a Respawn Anchor will suffice for a while if you keep restocking it with Glowstone.
