Unlocking all nine of the Horzion Forbidden West Vista Points is not only a journey into the past, but also a sometimes strange array of collectibles in the game.
When each small task is started by scanning phone hotspots that look like this, you’ll find each of the Vista Points scattered across the map:
You’ll have to scan them with your focus, and then you’ll be given a bright purple outline with a hint of what Vista Point means. To complete Vista Point, you will need to align this sketch with a real-world environment close to a telephone pole.
Below you’ll find where to complete each of the Horizon Forbidden West Vista Points.
Terrible Vista Point
Daunt Vista Point is the first thing you’ll find in the game, and luckily the easiest to get you into the flow of events.
The solution is to stand on the small ruined bridge and look across the river at the Ruins.
Plainsong Vista Point
Plainsong Vista Point is a surprisingly long way from your starting point. All you have to do is head towards the cliffs in the south.
Here you will find an old broken viewing platform very close to the ruins of the wind turbine. Look a little to the right and Vista Point will be unlocked.
Scalding Spear Vista Point
The Scalding Spear Vista Point is, fortunately, painfully clear on what to look for to unlock the Vista Point.
Just above the telegraph pole is an old viewing platform that you have to overcome using the properly falling log to act as a bridge. There are a few Sunwings guarding it though, so be careful.
You can see where you need to find it in the second image in the gallery above.
Stillsands Vista Point
Stillsands Vista Point, overlooking the desert, is pretty straightforward. Just jump a little and jump behind
As you can see above, the telephone pole actually forms part of Vista Point itself, and the rest is the silhouette of what’s left of Las Vegas.
Dunehollow Vista Point
Definitely the most frustrating of the Horizon Forbidden West Vista Points is Dunehollow. It’s underground in Las Vegas, accessible by elevators in the Hidden Ember settlement.
The original starting point is south of Dunehollow, while the solution is in the half-rotten bridge to the north.
Head to the easternmost point of that bridge, where there are no railings and an almost triangular section sticking out. There is a line (pictured above) where you have to stop in the middle to click Vista Point.
However, this unbelievably he’s hectic, so you might have to fidget a bit to pop him. It doesn’t quite line up with the ruins there when it explodes, which makes it even more confusing.
Memorial Grove Vista Point
Memorial Grove Vista Point is thematically on point, with the clue pointing to an old airport.
Head into the mountains just a little to the east and you’ll find an old viewpoint location, now quite familiar, where you can align the radar dish to unlock Vista Point.
Long Coast Vista Point
Long Coast Vista Point is another spot that’s a bit hectic because you have to get to the very edge of the rock for it to explode. However, head to the aforementioned map marker – just below the pickup post – then you’ll be able to figure this out pretty quickly.
From there, just stare at the odd square-shaped building that doesn’t look like much in the original clue, and it’ll explode.
Covered Hills Vista Point
For Shrouded Heights Vista Point, you’ll ideally need the ability to fly, which you’ll get as part of the main story missions late in the game Wings of the Ten.
That’s because to truly unlock Vista Point, you’ll have to climb to the very top of the skeleton metal tower, which we marked with Aloy’s location on the map above. It’s pretty close to where you get it, but not near the suggested solution area that the game gives you.
It’s possible to climb to the top without the ability to fly, but it’s not easy, and with Aloy’s inability to climb and jump from handle to handle, it can be deadly frustrating.
The actual Vista Point unlocks near the top, on a small yellow strut (pictured above) protruding from one of the corner spokes. Look for the crumbling skyscraper ruins and get the point.
Spiers Island Vista Point
Finally, we have the Isle of Spiers Vista Point, which is another weird and underwater one. Before starting this campaign, you will need the diving mask obtained from the Poseidon quest in the main campaign.
After you get the Vista Point hint, go to the marked point on the map above.
Once you’re in this general environment, look to the seabed for a yellow handle you’ll undoubtedly recognize as one of the underwater “support” points seen elsewhere in the game.
But swim near do not do that press the triangle to increase it and Aloy will hold it. As soon as it does this, Vista Point will be unlocked automatically.
