The Grounded Furnace is a building that players can obtain by finding the super chip for BURGL in the Haze Lab and use it to cook certain valuables. Mushroom Bricks, Orbs, and even the rare Earth Broodmother BLT can all be crafted in the Furnace, making it borderline necessary to achieve some of the best gear in the game. Below we will consider in more detail how to craft and build the Earthen Kiln, including where to get all the materials – brace yourself, because this will not be easy.
How to buy a Ground Oven
As mentioned, the first thing to do to get the Earthen Oven is to find the recipe. This is done by getting the Superchip from the Haze Lab in the Southwest corner of the Map; that’s where you can learn how to get in in our guide on what to do after the Grounded Hedge Lab. After making it to the end, the Superchip may be brought back to BURGL at Oak Lab, which will expand the in-store sales options. Purchase the “Advanced Crafting: Buildings” bundle for 2500 Science and the Bakery recipe will be added to your crafting list, among others. The oven requires the following materials to craft:
- clay x10
- EverChar Coal Pile x4
- Boiling Gland x4
Grounded Ax level 2 upgrade Insect Ax changes the game. Earn a harder ax here!
Getting the clay at this point in the game should be relatively easy – go to any watery area and use a shovel to dig up any smooth, brown clay deposits around or in the water.
EverChar Coal Pieces are the hardest. Along the West’s exit to the Grounded Upper Courtyard is Spilled BBQ, a dangerous area filled with spiders and heat. However, anyone with a level 2 cracking tool/hammer can crack coal and get EverChar Charcoal Shards from it (assuming they don’t die from the sizzle in the process).
The Boiling Cloth is a semi-rare drip from Bombardier Beetles. You can use a Field Station to look for Cloths or Bombardier parts, but if you need a place to check out, look to the West side of the Pond and the Central Grasslands. Take all this back to your base and build a brand new Bakery! One of the best things you can do with it are Mushroom Bricks that are used to build formidable defenses like the ones that will later assist you in the Grounded MIXR Modules and Javamatics array. Remember that the oven works slowly, like a spinning wheel, so everything you cook in it will need time to finish.
