How to harm wildlife in Fortnite?

To harm wildlife in Fortnite, you just need to hit any animal on the island with some source of damage, so it’s super easy. There have been several missions in recent Fortnite seasons that have tasked players with dealing damage in the Fortnite wilderness, and one of the new week 4 challenges is no different, requiring you to deal 1,000 damage. What Fortnite animals count in the challenge and where exactly you can find them, what you need to do to increase the damage.

Launchpad in Flutter Barn or Shimmering Shrine

Another week 4 mission asks you to throw a Launch Panel at the Flutter Barn or Shimmering Shrine in Fortnite, so make sure you know where to find any of these locations.

As mentioned earlier, any source of damage will be valid to overcome such challenges, as long as it’s distributed to the correct wildlife species found in Fortnite. That means bullet damage from any weapon, Fortnite melee and pickaxe damage, and explosive damage all, and damage to wildlife mounted by another player also counts. Be warned that larger wildlife creatures, especially wolves and sharks, are very aggressive, so be sure to be prepared with ample ammo. Although defeated wildlife often drops some consumable food items that can improve some of your health.

Almost every animal you see on the Fortnite map counts as wildlife for the purposes of this challenge, with the exception of fish that can only be caught with a fishing rod. Things to watch out for are Fortnite pigs, Fortnite wolves, chickens, frogs, crows, and sharks. Not all animals are created equal, as some are more common than others and some have much more health than others. We recommend going after a shark as they have a lot of health so you can keep shooting them until you complete the challenge, although they are pretty deadly. It can only be found in a select few places, so we’ve detailed the best areas to hunt for wildlife on Fornite:

  • pigs: You can find wild boar almost everywhere on the island. But around Lustrous Lagoon, Greasy Grove, and Rave Cave are good places to start.
  • Chickens: Look for chickens in the desert area south of the map or just east of Greasy Grove. Chickens also have a small chance to glow purple or orange, meaning they will drop an Epic or Legendary rarity weapon when defeated.
  • Crows: Crows can be found flying around the map, so look above to see if you can spot any. They can also perch on objects. Like chickens, crows can glow purple or orange when shot from the air to indicate that they will drop a rare weapon.
  • Frogs: Search any water source for frogs and listen for their croaking. Unless a challenge states that you need to damage or defeat frogs, we don’t recommend going after them because of how annoying and weak they are to find them.
  • Sharks: You’ll be able to spot a shark in several large bodies of water on the island – check out the bay east of Herald’s Sanctum, the lake north of Tilted Towers, or the lake south of Logjam Junction. Sharks also patrol the waters that completely surround the island.
  • wolves: There are many possible wolf spawning locations on the northern half of the island, but these are by far the most common around Bright Lagoon in the northeast corner of the map.

Deal a total of 1,000 damage to any Fortnite wildlife in any number of matches to complete one of the 4 Fortnite missions of the week and earn 20,000 XP!
