How to get Destiny 2 Laurels in Guardian Games 2022

Destiny 2 Laurels returns for the 2022 Guardian Games, where Warlocks, Titans, and Hunters compete to win as many medals as possible to win the competition for their Class. However, you will need Laurels—small tetrahedron-shaped items poured from enemies—to purchase certain Guardian Games items that will help you get these medals, so knowing how to collect them is essential. Here’s what you need to know about Destiny 2 Laurels and how you can use them in this year’s Guardian Games.

How to collect Guardian Games Laurels in Destiny 2

To create Laurels in any Destiny 2 event, simply defeat enemies with any Subclass ability – these Melee, Grenade, and Super abilities – while wearing your Guardian Games Medal Class Item. Defeating mighty warriors will also create Laurels, so be sure to target any larger enemies you encounter as well. To collect all the Laurels created by you or your fire team, simply go over them.

If you do not have a Medal Class Item, you will need to go to Eva Levante in the Tower Courtyard to collect your Medal Bond, Cloak or Mark. If you smashed your Medal Class Item, you can get another one from Eva for 1,000 Glitters.

Laurels also come in three varieties depending on who produces them. Titans create red Laurels, Hunters blues, and Warlocks create yellows, but you can collect any of them and there are no penalties or benefits for summoning a particular type. You can also keep up to 500 in your Medallion Vault, but any excess Laurels will be lost forever. Fortunately, since you can collect Laurels of any color, they’re really easy to collect, so you’ll rarely miss out on them – if you want to get some quickly, Strikes and Public Events will provide plenty of Laurels.

Destiny 2 also has a Daily Focus event every day for the duration of the Guardian Games – changing with a daily reset at 17:00 UTC. Participating in the corresponding event will earn you extra Laurels, so if you haven’t already, you’ll be swimming in them soon. You can check what the Daily Focus event is by looking for the little Guardian Games icon next to an event node on the Goals page or by inspecting your Medallion Case.

How do you spend your Destiny 2 Laurels?

Laurels can only be spent on a few things in Destiny 2, but they are really important for getting the high value medals that will help you the most in your Class’s daily Guardian Games ranking. You can purchase the following items for Laurels from Eva Levante in the Tower:

  • Guardian Games daily repeatable rewards = 30 Laurels each – these give a very small amount of Luminous Dust and XP that can be spent in the Eververse store.
  • Contestant Cards = 100 Laurels each – complete a Contestant Card challenge in the specified activity to get a gold medal. There are Strike, Crucible, Gambit, Seasonal Activity and Throne World Activity Contender Cards for you to purchase and complete. However, you can only hold one Contender or Platinum Card at a time.
  • Platinum Cards = 200 Laurels each – Complete a Platinum Card challenge in the specified activity to receive a platinum medal. You can purchase Platinum Passes for Raids/Dungeons, Trials of Osiris, Nightfall Strikes, high difficulty Throne World Events and high difficulty Seasonal Events.
