The Fortnite Shockwave Hammer is a melee weapon that launches the user long distances before hitting the ground with a suitably large shockwave. This weapon is a difficult weapon to use well, but when used correctly it can be devastating, knocking back enemies and dealing solid damage, and can even be used to quickly escape dangerous areas. We’ll show you how to get and use the Shockwave Hammer in Fortnite, including locations and an explanation of how it works.
The Fortnite Shockwave Hammer is one of Fortnite’s new weapons and can technically be found at: none Chest or loot dispenser, such as new capture points that drop weapons when successfully retrieved – even on the ground! However, due to its rarity, it is much harder to find from standard chests and weapon resources than any other piece of equipment. It has a much higher chance to drop from Oath Chests, which are new, larger chests in white and gold. Players determined to find one should look for these chests, often placed in medieval-themed locations, including:
- Castle
- Anvil Square
- Shredded Sheets
- Breakwater Cove
Of course, if you want more details on finding them, we recommend that you take a look at the Fortnite Oath Chests page we’ve put together! However, we still cannot guarantee that Shockwave Hammer will land in these locations, but the odds are significantly higher and those determined to find them are advised to head for any of the above areas. Of course, you can always hit a player who already has one and remove it from them!
The Shockwave Hammer is a massive melee weapon that deals 75 damage to all enemies around it when the user slams it into the ground to create a short range shockwave. It’s not a huge damage all things considered – but it also now knocks opponents back for a pretty decent distance, similar to the vaulted Shockwave Grenade. This gives players a lot of ability to hurl enemies around and put them in dangerous areas like oncoming gas or an ally’s line of sight, or knock them off a cliff if they’re too close to the edge.
Depending on their setup, a player can also use the hammer’s secondary function to launch themselves into the air by pressing L2/LT/RMB. In many ways, this is the point of the Shockwave Hammer – mobility and sudden movement. The throw fires you upwards and allows you to cover great distances in an instant, but it’s a pretty obvious action that will set you apart from everyone else nearby. You can still load up a bump along the way, allowing you to jump up and land with a thump!
Using any function of the Shockwave Hammer consumes the “ammo” that the hammer has four slots for. However, they recharge over time, and it takes about fifteen seconds to refresh each ammo slot.
