How to complete the Elden Ring Sorceress Sellen questline

The Elden Ring Sorceress Sellen questline sends you across the map to find the Comet Azure spell, Sellia Hideaway, and reveal Sellen’s true body. This is a complex action RPG with a series of secrets and items to uncover, and this is one of the more complex and difficult to complete Elden Ring questlines. Fortunately, we have all the steps you need to complete this quest, including all the items you need to collect and all the various NPCs you need to talk to.

While this walkthrough is a step-by-step process, be aware that some of the steps will take you further into the game zones – you need to know how to beat Radahn in Elden Ring and clear that boss for example. So if you’re trying to do this quest early, you may need to explore and progress to reach certain areas and NPCs.

1. Talk to the sorceress Sellen

First, visit the Waypoint Ruins in central Limgrave, just east of the central lake. Upon arrival, you will need to defeat Mad Pumpkin Head. After that, open the door and you will find the Sorcerer Sellen. Talk to him and be his apprentice. Then he will give you a job to do.

2. Obtain Comet Azur Mage

After that, go to Gelmir Mountain to find Primal Mage Azur. This NPC can be found starting at the Erdtree-Gazing Hill Grace Site on the Atlus Plateau, then winding north counterclockwise. Along the way you’ll pass bosses Tibia Mariner, Magma Wyrm and Demi-Human Queen Maggie.

Primordial Mage Azur lives right next to the Blessing Realm. Talk to them and you will gain the Comet Azure spell.

3. Back to Sellen

Then, return to the Waypoint Ruins Vault to talk to Sellen again and show her the Comet Azure spell you just found. He will then ask you to find Master Lusat, who is in a secret dungeon in Caelid. Sellen will give you the Sellian Seal Breaker to unlock a door in the next step.

4. Visit Master Lusat

Appear in the Fort Faroth Grace District in Caelid and head southwest to a nearby cemetery. Just behind a great tomb is a chasm, between which an imaginary wall is hidden. Kes and Sellia uncover a secret path to the Hideaway.

Follow it, past the two deceptive walls, and then past the crystal gate that leads to the platform in front of you. Make sure you don’t fall into the first cliff with the multi-armed creature. If you fall, thank God you can get up again. You need to pass the aforementioned crystal passage to the second abyss, where you will find a sorcerer guarding an enchanted door. Use the Sellian Sealbreaker to open the door and you will eventually find a helpless NPC.

Get close to the NPC and you’ll gain access to the Scars of Ruin spell.

5. Go back to Sellen

Return to Sellen in Waypoint Ruins to tell her what you found. It will then make another request to you, so exhaust the dialog options to continue.

6. Talk to Jerren the Witch Hunter

At this point, crash into the Room Outside the Plaza Site of Grace at Redmane Castle on the south island of Caelid. After defeating the Starscourge Radahn boss in this area, you will need to talk to the Witch Hunter Jerren, who is in the room located on the stairs to the north. Make sure you exhaust his dialogue here.

There’s a chance he’s not at Castle Redmane, but instead at the Witchbane Ruins. If that’s the case, continue to the next step to find that location instead.

7. Find Sellen’s real body

Head to the Witchbane Ruins, just south of the Fourth Church of Marika in Limgrave. This area is on the southern part of the land to the south of the starting part. You will then see Sellen’s corpse, interact with him and accept the Primal Glintstone.

Here you should also see the Witch Hunter Jerren in the same room. If you don’t, move to a different Realm of Grace and come back and it should be there. Talk to him and exhaust the dialogue options. If it still doesn’t appear, make sure to talk to him in Castle Redmane first.

8. Find Sellen again

Head to Ranni’s Rise and Renna’s Rise, the secret underground area on the northwest side of Liurnia. Between the two there is an illusory ground that reveals a new path. Follow him and you’ll find Sellen again.

At this point, you’ll need to interact with Primal Glintstone to transport it. If it doesn’t give you options, then you haven’t spoken to Witch Hunter Jerren from the previous steps.

9. Challenge or help Sellen

Finally, after defeating Rennala, head to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library and then head back east (if you haven’t already done so, we can assist you on how to get the Elden Ring Raya Lucaria Academy Glintstone Key to get in). Once you reach the large double doors and step outside, you will see two call signs on the floor: one to challenge and one to help Sellen.

If you challenge and defeat him, you will be awarded a Rune Arc, Sellen’s Bell Bearing, and the Witch’s Glintstone Crown. If you successfully assist him, you will earn the Eccentric Armor set, which includes the Hood, Armor, Manchettes, and Breeches. Then go back to where Rennala was and Sellen will be there. Talk to him and he will give you the Glintstone Kris. At this point you can visit him to chat or learn about remaining spells.
