This GTA Online treasure hunt to find the Double-Action Revolver was originally added as a promotional event tied to the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, but don’t worry if you haven’t done so yet as it’s still possible to follow the clues. and dig this secret weapon so it can be used in GTA Online.
However, getting the Double-Action Revolver isn’t the only incentive to undertake this treasure hunt, as completing the pursuit will also earn you GTA$250,000 plus a variant of this golden weapon that you can use in RDR2. Here’s what you need to know about the GTA Online treasure hunt to get the Double-Action Revolver and collect other rewards.
How to get Double-Action Revolver in GTA Online
First, run GTA Online and enter a roaming lobby. Now wait for an e-mail to arrive on your phone (when you receive the e-mail, you will also receive an alert on the screen informing you about the GTA Online treasure hunt). The email will contain an image from a location somewhere in Los Santos. All you have to do is find out where it is.
Fortunately, Rockstar isn’t being completely rude and actually circles the area on the minimap, letting you know where to start your hunt. Go to the marked area on the map and start walking around until you match the image in your email with what you see on the screen. The clue should then be right next to you. You’re looking for a piece of paper like this one, so if you can’t see it right away, try rotating the camera. When you find it, right click on the d-pad when prompted to research it.
Once you find the first clue you will activate the ‘treasure hunt’, which is indicated by a message on the screen. Surprise, surprise, you’re not done yet. There will now be three yellow question marks to explore on the map. Go to each one and find the clue in the marked location.
Once you have all three, you will receive a final message saying that the last part of the puzzle has been revealed. This is also marked on the map, so turn your head and you’ll find the Double-Action Revolver inside the chest in the final location.
How to get Double-Action Revolver in Red Dead Redemption 2
Once you get the pistol in GTA Online, you can use it to get 50 headshots for a cool GTA$250,000 reward, and you’ll also get a special variation of the pistol to use in Red Dead Redemption 2 – bonus!
You can get 50 headshots on NPCs as well as other players, so it shouldn’t take too long to collect them. You’ll get a notification on the screen every 10 headshots, and if you want to check your progress, you can go to the Pause menu > Statistics > Weapons > Double-Action Revolver on the last page to see your full headshot count.
After 50 headshots are completed, you will see a GTA$250,000 deposit go directly to your Maze-Bank account, and once you install Red Dead Redemption 2, your exclusive weapon will be available through your Social Club account. Congratulations!
