Deciding whether to opt for the Hogwarts Legacy loyalty and performance mode is actually a more complex decision than you might expect, especially if you have a TV that supports HDMI 2.1. However, I’ve tested them all and can guide you on the best graphics settings you can use on your PS5 and Xbox Series X. There are a number of Hogwarts Legacy settings you can play with to keep the game looking and working well. However, the Hogwarts Legacy blue character issue that has been troubling for some is part of the accessibility options, not the graphics.
Hogwarts Legacy loyalty and performance – Which should you choose?
After testing both, I recommend choosing Loyalty over Performance when it comes to Hogwarts Legacy – preferably Ray Traced Loyalty, which is a third option above the traditional Loyalty and Performance mods.
Performance mode ensures that you get the best visual experience from the game as it loses quality when it comes to graphics and tends to have a lot more popups.
What is the Hogwarts Legacy Fidelity Mod?
Choosing the loyalty mode allows your game to focus on delivering the best graphics performance Hogwarts Legacy has to offer. It will run at a lower framerate than in Performance mode – closer to a consistent 30fps than the 60fps peak.
What is Hogwarts Legacy Fidelity with Ray Tracing Mode?
Fidelity with Ray Tracing is basically the same as the classic Fidelity mod, but adds to Raytracing. This is definitely the best Hogwarts Legacy graphics setting and I recommend using it instead of everything else.
What is Hogwarts Legacy Performance Mode?
The performance mode in Hogwarts Legacy focuses on running the game at the highest possible frame rate, i.e. 60fps. It will see lower graphics flair than the high-fidelity mode, and I personally don’t think the graphics compromise is worth the higher framerate.
What is Hogwarts Legacy Balanced Mode?
Balanced Mode is a special graphics mode available to anyone running the game through a TV or monitor that supports HDMI 2.1. It tries to strike a balance between graphics quality, resolution and performance. I spent the first few hours of the game with this and had quite a few pop-in issues, so I would still recommend choosing Fidelity with Ray Tracing.
What is the Hogwarts Legacy HFR Performance Mod?
Another mode for those with an HDMI 2.1 monitor or TV is the HFR Performance mode, which aims to deliver ultra-high frame rates. Again, it hits a graphical compromise that I don’t think is worth it.

There are more Hogwarts Legacy settings to check out. Here is my personal advice for getting the most out of Hogwarts Legacy:
- Border Frame Rate – Turn this off to make sure you get the best framerate your graphics setting has to offer
- motion blur – Turn this off to increase image clarity
- depth of field – Keep this on to make the experience more realistic
- Chromatic aberration – Keep this on for more realistic lighting
- Movie Grain – Turn this off to ensure image clarity
