The work of a voice actor is something that requires versatility, as it is the type of thing that directly interferes with the identity of the person being dubbed. The news now is that this is possible to do even with characters from the video game.
Electronic Arts (EA) has patented a technology that allows players themselves to use their voices to dub characters in the game they are playing. The information was released by the VeryAli Gaming website.
According to the publication, the patent is called “Generating speech in the voice of a video game player” and was registered in 2020. The discovery of this, however, was only made last month.

In practice, the invention works as follows: the system records the player’s voice and then reproduces it automatically in games.
This means that gamers don’t necessarily need to select which voice they want to use when creating a character in a game. RPG, for example. The game’s protagonist would already sound his voice, automatically.
The patent registration explains that, before developing the dubbing system in games, tests were carried out with text conversion systems, so that the game received written content and a synthesizer was used to transform everything into audio.
From this combination, we reached the result that allows players greater freedom in the game, as it is now possible to create dialogues and play with the characters in a different way.
Capturing voice details
The technology promises, for example, to capture the player’s voice, even identifying non-verbal aspects, such as emotions, tone and emphasis in language.
The process is similar to what is done in software that generates voice by artificial intelligence.
Despite being ready and patented, it is not yet confirmed that EA will adopt the new feature in future releases. In any case, it is already clear what the company plans for the future.
