An updated version of the iconic 1992 Game Boy game was released on multiple platforms on 8/31, including Game Boy, Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4 and PS5. However, Xbox players will be left out of this trip, at least for now.

Unlike many re-releases that opt for remasters or complete remakes, “Trip World DX” is an enhanced reimagining of the classic.
Original developer Sunsoft, in partnership with original director Yuichi Ueda, brought new elements to the game that captured the hearts of Game Boy players nearly three decades ago.

Limited Run Games is bringing this renaissance to market, but Sunsoft and Ueda’s contribution has not yet been fully detailed.
The company promised a modern experience thanks to its own Carbon Engine, designed to emulate retro games with a contemporary touch. The new version will bring more than just updated graphics, as it will feature new content.
Players can expect a music player with remastered audio and arrangements, original design documents, cameo designs, and video interviews that dive into the behind-the-scenes of the game’s creation.
One of the most visible additions is the colorization of the game, which was originally in black and white. This breathes new life into the captivating world of “Trip World,” where players explore a land inhabited by unique creatures, including the adorable rabbit protagonist named Yakopoo.
The game’s official synopsis transports us to a global adventure through the magical “Trip World”, in which Yakopoo embarks on an epic journey.
“Trip World DX” is not just about graphics, but also about precise gameplay and immersive level design, encouraging players to explore and appreciate the wonders of “Trip World” rather than just fast-forwarding.
