The PlayStation fan community was recently taken on a nostalgia trip thanks to a post from a dedicated enthusiast. The shared image featured a collection of game icons used in memory cards from PlayStation 2, evoking memories of countless virtual adventures.

In response to the photo, other PlayStation enthusiasts couldn’t resist sharing their own memories and experiences with the iconic console that marked the 2000s.

In addition to being Sony’s first to introduce support for online gaming, the PS2 was known for its affordability as a DVD player and its backwards compatibility with most PlayStation 1 games, memory cards, and accessories.

To access data from memory cards, simply turn on the console without a disc inserted, select the browser option and then choose the desired memory card.

While a plethora of games were available for the Playstation 2some game save icons stood out for their importance and meaning.

At the Reddita user known as swiredmagic shared an image that captured the attention of the gaming community. More than a hundred distinct PS2 game icons were displayed on the “Gaming” subreddit.

The image organized the icons meticulously, with Square Enix’s most notable titles, such as “Final Fantasy 10“, “Kingdom Hearts” and “Dragon Quest 8”, at the top.

The icons were then grouped by genre, with RPG and action games leading the list, followed by sports games.

The icons of renowned titles, such as “Devil May Cry“, “Ape Escape 2” and “Onimusha”, were positioned at the end of the list, as, in the author’s words, they were on the verge of exclusion.

In the bottom right corner, an area called the “cheaters corner of shame” featured icons for Game Shark, Action Replay, and XPort devices.

Although three consoles were later released, the Sony continues to honor the PS2 era through its selection of PlayStation Plus Premium titles available monthly.

The list of upcoming titles remains a secret, leaving the community eager to discover which nostalgic experiences will be revived in the next round of games available to the service’s subscribers.
