Between the two award ceremonies, Game Awards 2023 viewers were treated to some pretty interesting trailers for Baldur’s Gate 3, which won almost every major nomination. We previously told you about the biggest announcement of the night and Arkane Lyon’s next game: Marvel’s Blade. However, another trailer also caught everyone’s attention: the trailer for Exodus.
If this name doesn’t mean anything to you, that’s normal. This is a brand new license produced by Archetype Entertainment, a young studio with its first game, and on its first try, it’s clear that the latter is planning to hit it hard. Exodus is set in a science fiction universe that is visibly inspired by Alien and Dune on the cinematic side, and Mass Effect on the video game side.
Is Exodus the next sci-fi video game slapstick?
The big names from which Archetype Entertainment draws its best lessons. The environments are absolutely gorgeous, and the battles against the “Celestias”, a mecha race that threatens all humanity, look quite dynamic. However, the real surprise of this trailer is none other than the actor voicing one of the main characters: Matthew McConaughey.
The actor says he is very proud to participate in his first video game project. Those who watch Interstellar will not be able to pass by without remembering the most cult scene of the movie, the scene where the actor’s character cries in front of the hologram of his partner. In short, there’s sure to be something for sci-fi lovers to sink their teeth into.
But you will have to be patient to discover what the game has in store for us. No release date is stated in the trailer, and it is even stated that the visuals are taken from the preliminary alpha. So not for now.
