Everything we know about Warzone Season 4, including new maps and more

The Call of Duty Warzone Season 4 update, also known as the Mercenaries of Fortune update, is fast approaching, where players will see new maps, new gear, new operators and more in addition to arriving in Warzone 2022. Godzilla and King Kong with the latest Call of Duty Warzone update are vying with each other, and this new season offers new features and gameplay experiences, albeit not quite as cinematic – most notably, Fortune’s Keep map, which will occasionally replace Rebirth Island and serve as a new location. . Play the resurrection game mode with both friends and strangers.

We’ve also seen that the Pacific Caldera map will receive some changes with the addition of new locations – and even the return of old ones – and changes to the map as a whole will receive some changes with new camps, less water and bunkers. You need key cards to unlock it. There’s a lot to go into, so we’ll cover below everything we know is coming to Call of Duty Warzone Season 4, Mercenaries of Fortune.

Everything new in the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 update

The Season 4 update for Warzone, Mercenaries of Fortune will add the following content (and possibly more) to the game:

• A new map for Resurgence: Fortune’s Keep
• Changes to the Caldera’s layout
• Return of the Storage Town
• Mercenary Bunkers and Key Cards
• A new vehicle: Armored SUV
• A New Contract: Black Market Supply Run
• Gold Loot Game Mode updates and ATMs
• Mercenaries of Fortune event
• New Battle Pass, Operators and weapons

There’s clearly a lot to come, a broad scatter approach that changes many small elements rather than adding one big new look or changing one thing. Appropriately enough, the whole theme of this new Season seems to be the pursuit of wealth, wealth, and above all, cash—the “call of duty” doesn’t really seem to go into that. Most of the gameplay changes are in this theme, but of course it’s still similar to Warzone at the core and touches little on the central gameplay model of shooting soldiers until only one soldier remains. We’ll cover the following changes, probably starting with the most important:

Until now, the Resurgence game mode, where players constantly respawn when at least one teammate survives, was almost exclusive to the Rebirth Island map. Now comes a new map where Resurgence can be played: Fortune’s Keep, a “smuggler’s paradise” in the Mediterranean that includes a castle fortress, a village, an elaborate winery and more.

Fortune’s Keep is supposed to be roughly the same size as Rebirth Island and has a lobby for up to 40 players, but it will apparently also have NPC “Mercenaries” – guarding a marked money bag – appearing as part of the Cash Out event. you’ll have to kill the mercenaries to reach it (not to mention the other players who want it).

It’s worth noting that Fortune’s Keep won’t permanently replace Rebirth Island – instead, the two maps will effectively take turns and Warzone will swap between the two frequently.

The caldera is being modified in numerous small ways all over the island – here’s a brief rundown of what to expect.

• Verdansk landmark Storage Town is coming back
• Greenery, trees and other small obstacles are reduced for longer sight lines
• Small camps and military bases will be added to key locations
• There will now be seven Mercenary Sanctuaries that require KeyCards to be unlocked.
• Capital roofs are connected by a network of piers or bridges for track movement.
• Giant bones were excavated at the excavation site.
• A fully discoverable ship is placed in dry dock in the Arsenal.
• The summit has been changed to be more accessible.
• Many areas of the water dried up and became discoverable in the process.

From what we’ve seen, the biggest changes worth mentioning are the Storage Town, Mercenary Bunkers, the reduction of water, and the opening of sight lines in many areas around the map. We’ll cover Storage Town and Mercenary Bunkers in more detail below, but how the mix of longer sight lines and more accessible, easily maneuverable locations when building new gear can balance the balance of ranged combat and cover rather than hide and ambush. Verdansk is famous for such variations all over the map, offering an eclectic mix of open terrain and claustrophobic buildings meaning players need to be ready for anything. And speaking of Verdansk…

The original Warzone map Verdansk has been unavailable and unplayable since late 2021, when it was removed from the game and replaced by the new Caldera. Now a small piece of history is returning, Official Call of Duty Blog tells us that Storage Town, a place within the game, will return and will be located “between the Mines, the Airfield, the Village, and the Excavation Site”. It has apparently been largely preserved, but the hills around it mean that it will be easier to see the area from the outside and access the rooftops than before.

The seven available unlockable bunkers on the Caldera are now “Mercenary Bunkers” that can be cracked for any big loot – but you’ll need a disposable Keycard to open any of them. These cards can (rarely) be found from Supply Boxes or Contracts, or you can shoot an enemy Operator and pull one of their corpses if they already have one. Of course, although the Bunkers can only be opened with Key Cards, some players may wander around the entrances waiting for others to come and open them just to ambush them and retrieve the treasure.

A new vehicle will be added to the Caldera in Mid-Season: the Armored SUV, which is a modified version of the existing SUV. It’s heavily fortified and can hold a driver, two passengers, and a gunner operating the machine gun turret on top (but they’re much more exposed to incoming fire).

The vehicle also has a Nitro Boost that the driver can use, which sounds just like it – a short-term booster that greatly increases acceleration, any knowledgeable driver will know how to use effectively – to escape danger or run it.

This new Covenant will only be on the map of Fortune’s Keep at the time of writing, Not Caldera or Rebirth Island, although entirely possible, will be added to these at a later date. The Black Market Supply Run is a hybrid of the Supply Run and Supply Drop contract and introduces a new “Charge Station” marked in black and gold. Here’s how the Black Market Supply Run contract works:

1. Player gets Contract
2. A large yellow circle marked “Endless Serpent” is placed on the map
3. Somewhere in the circle is a Mercenary Buying Station.
4. The yellow circle gets smaller as the player gets closer to the Buying Station
5. The Buying Station also makes a sound to help him get into the house.
6. When found, the winning team can spend Cash on incredibly powerful items.

It’s an interesting idea to say the least – all the items in this particular Buying Station look exclusive to him, but tend to be quite expensive, with some costing five figures. Miniguns, Foresight, and the Expert Bonus that gives the Operator every Perk in Warzone can be brought here. Obviously, anyone with the money to use them will become very dangerous very quickly.

The Gold Loot game mode will be a limited-time add-on, an updated version of the existing Loot and Blood Money modes, which is essentially a much more cash-heavy version of the standard model. Player numbers have increased, Cash drops are larger, and the victory requirement is now $5 million. There are also malfunctioning ATMs all over the map, spewing cash for grabs – a handy campground for gamers, to say the least.

The Mercenaries of Fortune Event is a gauntlet of eight challenges linked to both Caldera and Fortune’s Keep (sorry, Isle of Rebirth), each with their own individual rewards like Calling Cards, Weapon Camouflages, and more. Complete all the challenges and get a gold skin for the Armored SUV – because pleasure is clearly for the unsuccessful.

Alongside the new packs being added to the store, a new Season clearly means a new Battle Pass with new rewards as part of it. We haven’t seen the full Battle Pass yet, but we do know that at least one of the three new Operators and two new weapons have been added as part of this Pass. Here’s what we know is coming to him:

• Butcher Carver (Operator): Battle Pass Level 0
• Marco 5 (Weapon): Battle Pass Level 15 (FREE)
• UGM-8 (Weapon): Battle Pass Level 31 (FREE)

The last two being free means players won’t have to pay anything to get them, just completing the Battle Pass up to the required levels. We also saw that the following Operators and weapons will be added later in Season 4 and can be accessed in different ways:

• Callum Hendry (Operator): Can be purchased through the Store Pack
• Ikenna Olowe (Operator): Can be purchased through the Store Pack
• EMP Grenade (Equipment): Acquisition method unknown
• Vargo-S (Weapon): Acquisition method unknown
• Push the Dagger (Weapon): Acquisition method unknown

If the previous patterns in Warzone are any indication, often based on getting certain types of kills in spectacular numbers, the last two are likely to be based on in-game difficulty. But that’s just a guess and we’ll see how the Vargo-S and Push Dagger can make their way into the players’ arsenal.

The EMP Grenade is shown in more detail – although the exact method of how to obtain it is not disclosed (it can be added to the player’s existing equipment), we do know that it is an explosive that does no damage and turns off. Temporarily lowering vehicles, as well as briefly removing players’ HUDs if they get caught in the explosion.

There’s a lot more we’ve seen coming to Warzone as part of the update, including Warzone Ricochet anti-cheat system updates and the upcoming “Rebirth of the Dead” mode, but details are scarce. We’ll have to wait to see what happened at the time of writing and what they contain. There are all sorts of planned additions to Call of Duty: Vanguard, including the addition of the classic Shi No Numa zombie map.
