Elden Ring Dung Eater questline and Seedbed Curses locations

The Elden Ring Dung Eater questline lets you locate the five Seedbed Curses throughout the Lands In Between, which were used to provoke the Blessing of Despair that ended for Loathsome Dung Eater himself. Despite his strange name, the Dung Eater is a frightening figure, cursed with a terrible ghoul, and considers it a blessing to share that curse with the whole world. Hand Ring itself. The walkthrough for the Elden Ring Dung Eater questline for the end of Blessing of Despair can be broken down into these easy steps and locations:

1. After Altus Plateau, meet Dung Eater in Roundtable Hold
2. Bring a Seedbed Curse to the Dung Eater
3. Find the Manure Eater’s body with the Sewer Prison Key
4. (Alternate end of quest) Kill the Manure Eater
5. Fight the Manure Eater in Leyndell’s Outer Trench
6. Talk to Dung Eater again in Roundtable Hold
7. (Alternative end of quest) Give Manure Eater Seluvis’ elixir
8. Bring four more Seedbed Curses to Dung Eater
9. (Appropriate end of quest) Get the Restorative Rune of the Fallen Curse

This is actually a quest that makes two separate attempts to finish it early (although you won’t be able to end the Manure Eater Blessing of Despair if you do), giving you different rewards for killing or capturing the Manure Eater yourself. We’ll review these as opportunities arise, but ignore steps four and seven if you want to get the proper, dismal mission ending.

The Dung Eater questline is one of the more open quests with an emphasis on exploration when it comes to Seedbed Curses that are spread around the map. Of course, we’ll tell you below where to find them and what it takes to get them.

There are a total of six Seedbed Curses around the Elden Ring, but one can be locked. Fortunately, you only need five to complete Dung Eater’s questline.

1. From the Leyndell East Capital Walls Grace Estate, take the first Elevator, then go up the stairs on the right. A corpse on a chair carries a Seedling Curse.
2. On the west side of Leyndell is a recreation of the Round Table Hold in the same layout. In the room where the Dung Eater would normally be, there is another corpse with the Seedbed Curse.
3. In the Volcano Manor dungeon, find the portal at the end of Rykard’s arena, but instead of going through it, go back and go up the stairs and go through a door that needs one of the Elden Ring Stone Sword Keys. Inside is a huge room where you jump over the tops of hanging cages to reach the bottom – scramble with enemies there to find another corpse with a Seedbed Curse.
4. Proceed through the Grace Prayer Chamber Site in Haligtree until you reach the chamber with the two Cleanrot Knights. Instead of going inside though, jump over the railing and go down until you’re in a room with a corpse on a chair behind you. Loot for the Seedbed Curse.
5. Head back to the Prayer Room and this time follow the main road until you reach the two crossbowmen facing down. Jump onto the platform on the right with the Scarab, then run northwest along the support pillars to the balcony, then head inside to find the body with the Seedbed Curse in a chair.
6. If you have followed the Blackguard Great Boggart’s questline to the end, you will receive a Seed Curse from him in the Outer Moat. However, if you reach step 5 of the Dungeater Eater’s quest, the Big Boggart dies and you can no longer pick it up.

Obviously some of these require you to get to Haligtree, an area that requires you to know how to get to the Sacred Snow Field in Elden Ring, as finding Miquella’s Haligtree and the town of Elphael requires you to go through there.

1. Meet Dung Eater at the Round Table Stop after Altus Plateau

The most common trigger for the Loathsome Dung Eater to spawn is when a player first accesses the Altus Plateau, the Northern area around Erdtree, by learning how to use Dectus’s Grand Lift in the Elden Ring. Once there, the Dung Eater should appear in a newly opened room, the Castle of the Round Table, right next to Sir Gideon and the Twin Maiden Husks. He may look like an invading spirit, but combat is not allowed in the Round Table, so talk to him and exhaust his dialogue.

2. Bring a Seedbed Curse on the Manure Eater

The Dung Eater seeks the Seedbed Curse, a special item found on corpses he’s killed and dismembered. Pick one from the map to bring it to him – the first is probably the easiest, but any will do. When you bring him back to him, he will reveal that this form is not his real body – he is imprisoned in a cell below Leyndell. He will give you the Sewer-Gaol Key and ask you to take it out.

3. Use the Sewer Prison Key to release the Manure Eater in the Underground Passage Area

The Underground Crossing Areas are not easy to find – go from Leyndell to the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace, go down the stairs and jump off the railings on the right into a broken town area. To reach Shunning-Grounds, go down the well with a ladder inside. If you haven’t completed the boggart’s quest up to this point, do it now! When you release the Dung Eater, it will go straight to the Boggart and kill him.

When you get here, keep going until you find the Underground Roadside Grace Estate, then exit that room and go left. After passing the giants, there will be a hole where you can fall into the sewer. Follow the path on the left and go up a ladder past the giant plants and fight the giant hands attacking you. Dung-Eater’s cell is on the opposite side and you can use the Sewer-Gaol Key to open it. Talk to him and tell him to leave in dialogue to continue the task. As an alternaive…

4. (Alternative choice) Kill the Manure Eater to finish the quest early

If you attack Dung-Eater in his cell, it will turn into a direct fight between you and him. It’s a pretty tough NPC with a giant sword and a lot of health, so play carefully. If you kill him, you get his armor – the incredibly durable Omen set – and the Milos Sword, a bone Great Sword that restores FP with anyone you kill. Of course, you can’t get the end of Dung-Eater that way, so just kill him if you want a different, less cursed future.

5. Fight the Manure Eater in the Outer Ditch

Back in Roundtable Hold, you’ll find a message from the Dung Eater in your library that reads, “It’s your turn. Come to the outer ditch.” Just next to the Blackguard Big Boggart, descend into the water north of Leyndell and you will be overrun by the Manure Eater. Kill him here – this won’t end the quest as it’s the character’s red soul rather than his physical body.

6. Talk to the Dung Eater again in Roundtable Hold

After some friendly paddling in the ditch outside Leyndell, return to Roundtable Hold and Dung Eater will be in its usual spot. You can talk to him again and he’s changed his mind about defiling you – now he thinks it’s better to defile him and asks you to bring more Seedbed Curse into his body. Again there is an alternative way:

7. (Alternative choice) Give Seluvis’ Elixir to the Dungeater for a Puppet

You can finish the quest early by turning Dung Eater into a puppet summon (again, preventing Blessing of Despair from ending). This takes a few steps, but turns Dung Eater into an imprisoned NPC that you can summon just as you would with your Ashes. If you want to do that, here is the process:

1. Follow the Elden Ring Ranni questline and the secret to the point where you talk to him and his three minions, including Seluvis, in The Rise of Ranni.
2. Talk to Seluvis in his tower south of Ranni and he will give you the “Elixir of Seluvis”.
3. Take the Elixir to the Dung Eater in the Underground Cell, not to the Round Table Warehouse. Interact with it and manage it. (We were told that if you wait until he loses consciousness and then kill him, you can get his armor without sabotaging this outcome, although we haven’t tried it ourselves).
4. North of Ranni’s tower are some ruins with an illusion base that disappeared when attacked. Go down the steps and read the message about not touching.
5. Return to Seluvis and face him, and he’ll transform the Dung Eater into a puppet in exchange for 5 Starlight Fragments.

8. Bring four more Seedbed Curses to the Dung Eater

At this point, simply find four more Seedbed Curses, five in total. Don’t bring these to the Dung Eater in Roundtable Hold, the one in the cell (yes, he’s back there), now tied to a chair. Use the map above to find everything you need and pour them into the Manure Eater until he’s satisfied.

9. Get the Restorative Rune of the Fallen Curse

After you grant the Dung Eater the fifth Seedbed Curse, you will have completed his quest and he will grant you the Restorative Rune of the Falling Curse, an essential item needed to end the Blessing of Despair that he wants you to acquire. Not only that, if you refill the area and return, it will have dropped the Omen Armor set for you to pick up.

For Dung Eater’s Blessing of Despair ending with Elden Ring, kill all Elden Ring main bosses by taking the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse until the end of the game. Once you’ve finished the final boss, you’ll have the chance to use the Rune as mentioned in our Elden Ring endings, where we talk a bit more about the world Dung Eater wants to create/destroy.

There are a few rewards players can get from the Dung Eater quest, but many of them need to be canceled early by killing or puppeting the faecal face. The only thing that stays consistent throughout is the Omen armor – you can get it in all endings and variations, and it’s a good (albeit ugly) armor set, incredibly heavy but also quite durable. It even increases the damage of Omen Bairn and Regal Omen Bairn items by 5% for each piece of armor you wear (if you don’t have the latter, you can get it as a reward for how to defeat Morgott in the Elden Ring) ).
