Dying Light 2 cross-play was somewhat ambiguous to some, as the ability to play with friends on different consoles – even variations of the same platform as on PC or PS4 to PS5 cross-play – wasn’t obvious. Some are wondering: Does Dying Light 2 have cross-platform interaction, and if so, how does it work and what are its limitations? We’ll explain everything you need to know about the Dying Light 2 crossplay options in our guide below.

Does Dying Light 2 have crossplay?
No, Dying Light 2 does not include crossplay for those interested in the Dying Light 2 set. This news was actually a few weeks ago. Twitch Interview with Techland lead designer Tymon Smektalaannounced that Dying Light 2 will have free cross-generation upgrades, but there will be no cross-generational collaboration at launch and will “not be available at this time.” There has been no comment on the availability of crossplay since this interview, and it is not available in the game itself as it is currently being released.
It’s also more limited than most crossplay systems. For example, PS4 players can not only get together with players on Xbox, but also play with players on PS5 right now! You are very locked into playing with people on the same console as you; this can be frustrating if you and your friends discover Villedor on different platforms.
Will Dying Light 2 be crossplayed later?
There is no official statement saying that Dying Light 2 will be cross-play in the future, so it’s not wise to assume that it probably will. That said, it’s important to remember that the patch “at launch” followed almost all official comments about the lack of Dying Light 2 crossplay, so it’s possible that we may see this change at some point in the future.
The fact is that neither promised nor official comments from Techland have ruled this out. Considering that Dying Light 2 “guarantees to expand the world for at least five years after launch”, we know that updates and changes to the game are planned for a long time, although the content is still unclear.
However, again, at the time of writing, there is no way to cross-play Dying Light 2 across different platforms.
