Daggerfall: The remake of Bethesda’s biggest RPG is finally released, let’s get nostalgic

Finished Starfield and missing Bethesda games? Here’s a remake of one of the studio’s oldest RPGs, but also one of the most ambitious in its history; some evildoers will not hesitate to claim that the gameplay changes very little between the two games. Daggerfall is the second work of the legendary The Elder Scrolls series, the last work of which is none other than Skyrim. For several years now, a team of enthusiasts have undertaken a crazy project: to completely remake the game in Unity, bringing these graphics and many other features up to date.

It’s a crazy project because Daggerfall is by far the most ambitious project in Bethesda history. Released in 1996 on MS-DOS (whatever), it can boast of having one of the largest footprints ever created for a video game: at least 161,000 km². So this explains the development time of the remake. 4 years after the first alpha was released, the final version is now available. And if you’re a fan of the Bethesda formula, it’ll be hard to resist.

Daggerfall Unity is available, now it’s time to get back to it

So this remake has a lot of selling arguments. Both are compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac, modernizing the original game’s graphics with improved lighting, compatibility with high definitions and various optimizations for the game’s quality of life. But above all, Daggerfall Unity is fully compatible with all mods. developed by the community over the years.

At the developers’ recommendation, you can choose the incredible Quest Pack 1, which adds 195 quests to the already massive original content, or the pack that introduces the Archaeologists, a guild whose mission is to discover the origins of Tamriel. The context in which The Elder Scrolls takes place. Note that you will need to have a copy of the original game. That’s good: It’s already available for free on Steam. In theory, you should have plenty to keep you busy until The Elder Scrolls comes out.
