While many gaming giants are looking for new ways to monetize their gamesthere are some who have already ‘found their place in the sun’ and who make loads of money with games as a service.
One of these cases is the iconic Counter-Strike, which got a sequel this year. Counter-Strike is a series of tactical shooter games where two teams, Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists, compete on varied objectives.
With an emphasis on strategy, teamwork and precision, it is a landmark in the genre, offering intense multiplayer confrontations.
In this sense, unlike many games as a service, the title has a market for skins in which players can resell their weapon skins for exorbitant prices, and recently we had an impressive case.
Collector pays a fortune for rare skin
A Counter-Strike enthusiast invested a significant US$132.5 thousand (approximately R$650 thousand) in a rare skin for the AK-47 Case Hardened.
Equipped with high-value stickers, this acquisition reveals the growing attractiveness for collectors, even with the general drop in skin prices following the release of ‘Counter-Strike 2’.
The price of the item is explained by pattern 670 and the StatTrak tool, as well as being equipped with four holographic Titan stickers from SL Major Series One Katowice 2014.
The 2014 Major Series One holographic stickers are considered the most rare currently present in Counter-Strike.
Each sticker, valued at US$80,000 for collectors, is equivalent to approximately R$392,000 at the current price.
The initial owner invested US$300 in the AK-47 Case Hardened and another US$320,000 in the stickers, highlighting the substantial devaluation of the price during resale.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen collectors investing exorbitant values in the game. Recently, one acquired a set consisting of an AK-47 and a knife whose value exceeded R$2.5 million.
