The gaming market will undergo some changes with the creation of a bill that aims to charge taxes of the gaming sector. Gaming plays a significant role in the Brazilian economy and this change in law could, according to experts, further boost the market in Brazil.
Change in the legal gaming system
Currently, Brazil charges a tax on gambling at a rate of 15%. This amount charged is like a payment to the government for intervening in the economic domain. In the case of electronic games, there is no such tax charged.
In this sense, a bill that aims to collect taxes from the gaming sector was drafted by Kim Kataguiri and is numbered 2796/21. Whoever disclosed the information to Broadcast/State It was Senator Irajá from PSD-TO.
Now, the project is in the hands of the Economic Affairs Committee (CAE) awaiting consideration by senators. According to the senator, they are awaiting the Treasury’s response regarding the IRS.
Until now, companies have been responsible for paying taxes like other companies in various sectors. However, this change with the bill foresees a positive growth movement for the sector.
In addition to the increase in gaming revenues, there is also an expectation of growth in job openings directly created by product development. Therefore, the creation of this legal framework for the industry will help improve regulation and reduce market uncertainty.
Although this subject divides opinions, Senator Irajá states that the amount collected from taxes can be very useful for the education and health sectors in the country.
Furthermore, the existence of legislative regulation encourages interest in investing in the Brazilian market by foreign industries.
The final response of the results and approval after discussions on the project will be released later this year.
