Most of today’s big games have some sort of development modification, known as modwhich allows you to expand the user experience and add some configuration to the game that makes it innovative.
With the advancement of artificial intelligence, these modifications have become increasingly more refined, even enabling the implementation of features to improve the fluidity of conversations with NPCs (Non-Playable Characteror, in translation, non-playable characters).
An example of this is the use in the famous AAA game “GTA V“, in which players could use free mods based on AI systems that allow realistic dialogues with the game’s characters. However, recently, the company that owns the game decided to ban this tool, generating controversy and discontent among fans.

The expansion of the use of artificial intelligence in “GTA V” has provided a more immersive and interactive experience for players. The mod known as Sentient Streets used AI to generate realistic dialogue between players and NPCs in the world of “GTA 5”.
The system, developed by a creator called Bloc, allowed players to use a microphone to interact with NPCs, who responded in a contextual and natural way. However, Take-Two Interactive, the company that owns the rights to “GTA V” and Rockstar, decided to ban it without any explanation.
The response from the gaming community arrived in full force after the company’s action, with many players frustrated by the decision, arguing that mods, like Sentient Streets, enrich the gaming experience and should not be limited.
Bloc was disappointed with the company, especially for not communicating the decision in advance. This affected both the company’s Nexus Mods as the demonstration video on YouTube.
Is this the end of mods?
Unfortunately, the modding community doesn’t seem to have a positive reputation with game publishers. Some projects face legal resistance, while others are supported and officially collaborate with developers. Rockstar Games itself has had its share of troubles with the modding community.
While it allows modifications to your games in single player mode, the Rockstar restricts this practice in multiplayer mode.
However, there have been notable cases of collaboration, such as the official partnership with a group of modders specializing in roleplay in “GTA”. After an initial ban on these modders, the company recognized the value of this creative project and allowed an official collaboration. In other words, there is still hope for Sentient Streets, which should have a lot of popular support.
