Jay Gunn, one of the co-creators of the iconic ‘MediEvil’ franchise from PlayStation 1, is facing serious financial problems.
In view of this, he made the decision to put up for sale his ‘Console Game of the Year’ statuette won at the BAFTA Games Awards 2000, when MediEvil 2 received the main prize of the night.
In a message posted on the social network X (formerly known as Twitter), Jay Gunn shared that he has been unemployed for over a year, constantly sending resumes to various studios, but rarely does he count on positive responses.
Figurine is on sale for shocking value
Gunn says that most of the responses he has received are unfortunately negative, which leaves him quite discouraged.
In an attempt to gain value to maintain itself, the statuette of the BAFTA it is for sale for 6 thousand euros, but Jay Gunn is open to negotiations for higher prices. He is also offering to sell a signed ‘MediEvil’ Funko POP.
In the post he had made on the old Twitter, the game designer and screenwriter explained that he recently faced hospitalization and has been dealing with bouts of anxiety and stress, in part due to the lack of work opportunities. The post has currently been deleted by Gunn.
According to information in the post while it was on air, the game designer claimed to have the passion and versatility necessary to contribute to the gaming industry. However, he expressed deep concern about his own professional situation and the scarce opportunities in the last year.
He revealed that he spent almost a year sending out applications with personalized cover letters and regular updates to his CV. For every 20 applications per month, he received only two or three responses, generally negative, and most received no response.
After the huge repercussion that Jay Gunn’s tweet received, he thanked the public for their love. However, he said he deleted the post because of the negative and hurtful comments he was receiving.
He stated that he did not need to attract these types of people in his life now.
We hope that Jay Gunn can secure a space in the gaming industry once again. And that it is not necessary to sell one of the greatest examples of his effort and work.
