Atari: Classic game developer incorporates a modern touch into its new games

In the dynamic landscape of the video game industry, few brands have managed to achieve a place as iconic and timeless as Atari. With origins dating back to the 1970s, the company revolutionized the way people interacted with games, becoming synonymous with nostalgia for entire generations.

However, the true greatness of Atari lies not only in its glorious past, but also in its exceptional ability to reinvent itself and remain relevant over time.

Even in an era dominated by cutting-edge technology, the game developer has surprised by preserving the retro appeal that made it famous, while embracing innovation.

Between the 1980s and 1990s, Atari experienced enormous success that established it as one of the main references in the video game industry. Now, the company seeks to reinvent itself to reach the current audience, while maintaining the retro aspect loved by its loyal users.

“Atari is a brand with a deep connection across generations […] For many, it’s full of nostalgia. Just seeing the Mount Fuji logo takes them back to their childhood. It’s synonymous with video game culture,” said Ethan Stearns, vice president of publishing at Atari, in an interview with Game On.

The company’s team is committed to preserving its legacy and keeping it relevant in today’s market. To achieve this goal, it will modernize its gaming experiences, such as its upcoming release, “Haunted House.”

The new game was unveiled during the BIG Festival, a gaming event held in São Paulo in early July.

“We are in a new era at the company, which is about games and innovation. This is the spirit of Atari. Games like ‘Haunted House’ and ‘Quantum: Recharged’ are examples of this vision,” the executive highlighted.

According to Stearns, game developers work to reimagine classics and bring them to the public with a new look, but without losing their essence.
