Released in 2023, ROG Ally was Asus’ first foray into portable consoles. This interesting but flawed machine is essentially a computer crammed into a game controller. Today it introduces a brand new version: ROG Ally
This is an improved model of the first Ally, not version 2. 7 inch IPS LCD display at 1080p 120 Hz and AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. So the core remains the same but many adjustments have been made.

A more autonomous ROG Ally X, but also more ergonomic
The biggest improvement concerns autonomy, which was starved in the first model. This time, Asus opted for an 80 Wh battery (compared to the previous 40). But that’s not all since ROG Ally
The general shape of the product has been revised in terms of ergonomics, especially on the handles (in our opinion it is already perfect). Analog sticks and crosshairs are now more reliable. Asus has also tweaked connectivity a bit, as a second USB Type-C port has appeared. Practical! All these additions logically increase the weight of the machine, but the manufacturer has done a pretty good jobSince it weighs only 678 grams608 to 1. To mark the occasion, this ROG Ally X wears a much simpler black dress. We were able to use it for a few minutes and found the sensations of the first machine, but without the annoying little things. Promising!
Finally, note that the ROG Ally X (like the first model) has its advantages. Armory Crate SE version 1.5. A clearer, more intuitive and much smoother interface for navigating your machine. But make no mistake: it still works on Windows 11.
ROG Ally X will be available in France July 22, 2024, priced at 899 euros (compared to 799 euros for the classic ROG Ally). It’s already available for pre-order.
