Finding all Elden Ring endings will take multiple games, but seeing every result for the Lands In Between may be worth it. Elden Ring has half a dozen different endings to experience, each unlocked by taking certain steps or forming alliances with certain characters in the game. With the entire fate of the kingdom at stake, we’ll tell you how to unlock each ending in the Elden Ring, what these endings mean, and which one you should follow.
Obviously there are spoilers below, but instead of revealing exactly what’s inside, we’re going to focus primarily on how to get these endings. Spoilers are kept to a minimum.
How many Elden Ring endings are there?
There are a total of 6 Elden Ring endings that players can obtain, each with their own name to be identified, and we’ll use them to separate them below. We’ve listed them here, along with the entity or character you will ally with for each. These endings are not compatible and it is not possible to put the two together at the end of your Elden Ring game. Click on the links below or scroll down to see all the endings you can get.
- Age at Break (default finish) – not allies with anyone
- Age of Order is coming to an end – Allied with Brother Corhyn/Goldmask
- Age of Duskborn is coming to an end – Allied with Fia
- Blessing of Despair (bad ending) – Allied with the Manure Eater
- Lord of the Mad Flame Lord – Ally with Three Fingers
- Age of the Stars (best/secret ending) – Allied with Ranni the Witch
All Elden Ring endings announced
If the entire game is about trying to reach the Elden Ring itself, a divine object that determines the rules and shape of the universe, the endings are determined by what you do when you find it and whose vision of reality you believe (as alternate endings are inspired by the goals of various NPCs). Depending on what you do throughout the game and who you work with, you can simply repair the Elden Ring to return the status quo or make significant changes to reshape the Lands In Between. Below we’ll talk about each ending and how to achieve them.
Some of these endings are much easier to achieve than others, but none are easy and all require certain mandatory steps to be completed. In fact, as far as we can tell they all require defeating the Elden Ring main bosses listed here and additional steps on top of that. By the way, when we say “last boss” down below, we mean boss no. We have 13 numbers on our attached list (after all, we don’t want to spoil the who/what).
It’s also worth noting that you can only get an ending, because most You won’t be locked into these quest paths until you make a final choice at the end of the game, which will allow you to pursue some or even all of them. There is an exception to this rule – the Lord of the Frenzied Flame end – but we’ll cover that below and how you can break this lock with a special quest.
Age of Fracture is coming to an end
Age of Fracture is the easiest and simplest ending to obtain and can also be considered as the default or standard ending of Elden Ring. While this may be more streamlined as you become the next-Hand Lord to rule everything, it basically relies on you to maintain the status quo. To get the Age of Fracture, do the following:
- Kill the last boss.
- Interact with Elden Ring and select “Fix Elden Ring”.
Age of Order is coming to an end
If you want to continue this questline, you may have some trouble finding this priest, as he left the Round Table Fortress without warning. Don’t worry, we’ll show you Location of Brother Corhyn in Elden Ring on the linked page!
The Age of Order can be thought of as a more emphatic version of the Age of Fracture, where Darkened works with Brother Corhyn and the Golden Mask to obtain a special rune to create an orderly, non-chaotic reality.
You could argue whether this is morally better or worse than The Crack – it’s basically a more empowered version of the status quo, where reality will be less dangerous, but also much less under the control of those who live in it. . “Perfect Layout”, ominously, doesn’t really provide much room for experimentation and freedom.
- Complete Brother Corhyn’s/Goldmask’s questline.
- From this, obtain the Restorative Rune of Perfect Order.
- Kill the last boss.
- Interact with Elden Ring and select “Use Restorative Rune of Perfect Order”.
Age of Duskborn is coming to an end
There’s a seemingly darker ending here, where the player works with the Deathbed Companion Fia to experiment with the corpse of the demigod Godwyn to make life and death more intertwined.
The game isn’t clear on what that will mean (it’s Elden Ring for you), but it seems to herald an age of undead demigods, with death now becoming an integral part of the Lands In-between cycle.
- Complete Fia’s questline.
- Obtain the Reparative Rune of the Prince of Death from it.
- Kill the last boss.
- Interact with Elden Ring and select “Use Death Prince’s Restorative Rune”.
The blessing of despair is over
If you want to work with the Evil Manure Eater… well, it’s kind of weird, but we won’t judge. The Dung Eater wants to infect the entire world with the terrible curse that plagues him, and ensure that the souls of the afflicted cannot return to Erdtree and lock them into living death. Again, it’s kind of weird, but by working with it, you can apply that curse to reality itself and make the whole world eat shit.
There’s a pretty clear argument that this is the “bad ending”, or at least depressing at least. Dung Eater doesn’t have many arguments for destroying the world beyond really, really wanting his own curse, confusing him, and seeing it as a blessing. So if you go that route, it’s less about moral arguments and more about making the apocalypse horrible and draining your frustration into reality.
- After reaching the Altus Plateau, meet and talk to the Dung Eater at the Round Table Fortress.
- Bring him a Seedbed Curse and get the Sewer Prison Key
- Use the key in the sewers below Leyndell to free Dung Eater’s physical body – don’t kill him! You can find it by going left from the Underground Roadside Grace Estate, going down the sewer grate and following the path up the staircase past the giant flowers.
- Return to Roundtable Hold and Dung Eater will have left a message asking you to fight him. In the ditch on the north side of Leyndell, outside the city and just south of Minor Erdtree.
- Kill him, then find him again in Roundtable Hold. He will ask you to bring him more Seedbed Curses.
- You bring them not here to him, but into his physical body in the cell by the Underground Way where you found him earlier.
- Bring him the 5-Seed Curse and he will give you the Restorative Rune of Fell Curse.
- Kill the last boss.
- Interact with Elden Ring and select “Use the Restorative Rune of the Fallen Curse”.
Lord of the Mad Flame Lord
Now you can ally with Three Fingers if you want to destroy everything by working with the manifestation of Chaos without gods, trees or runes. If you take the first few steps below, this is the last. You will be locked out of all other endings!
If you have buyer’s remorse, the only way to heal yourself is to follow the Elden Ring Millicent questline and take Miquella’s Needle, a massive test that will put you against the toughest boss in the game. Make sure you want this ending before you do! Alternatively, make sure do not do that Ask for this to end before using the Needle, because you cannot return to Three Fingers afterwards.
Again, this sounds like a pretty bad ending as the word turns into disorderly chaos and flame. Everything we’ve seen about Wild Flame suggests that it implants insanity in those affected by it, so it doesn’t look great to project reality. On the plus side, maybe everyone will be too cult-crazed to notice?
- Find the Cathedral of the Forsaken under the underground Shunning-Grounds.
- Below will be a large stone door that the player cannot open.
- The only way to unlock it is to remove all armor and interact effectively with it while “naked”. If you don’t want Lord of the Frenzied Flame Ending, don’t do it! This is the necessary step that will lock you into this ending until you find Miquella’s Needle, which is not easily done.
- Interacting naked with the door triggers a cutscene where you walk inside and are held by Three Fingers, leaving you with whole body burns and glowing red eyes.
- Kill the last boss.
- Interact with Elden Ring and select “Become the Master of the Crazy Flame”.
The Age of the Stars is coming to an end
Probably the most complex, detailed, and emotionally complex ending, here you work with Ranni to bring her to power and become the new force to replace Marika (perhaps completely eliminating the Great Will), initiating a new age of starlight and the Realms Between. Where the Outer Gods have less control over reality. Also, as part of this deal, you will marry Ranni and become the new Elden Lord and his wife.
Ranni’s quest is arguably the “hidden end” as it is the longest and most varied, and there is little to suggest that working for him in the beginning will take you to the end.
- Complete the quest of the Moon Princess Ranni. This is such a complex side quest that we’ve actually put together the entire Elden Ring Ranni questline and the secret ending page to get you through this quest.
- Kill the last boss.
- Interact with Elden Ring! Instead, there will be a unique blue summoning marker near the ground that reads “Summon Ranni” between the Elden Ring and the Grace Zone. Triggering this and summoning Ranni the Witch will activate the final ending.
What is the best ending in Elden Ring?
It’s a matter of perspective and opinion as to what the best ending is for Elden Ring, but we can personally say that Age of Stars is probably the best, as Ranni has been a key character from the beginning and her ending felt really good. An interesting, narratively satisfying passage for Lands In Between. Even if you don’t summon him in the end, the questline is definitely worth following as it will take you to some fantastic optional areas and boss fights.
The truth is, you should go with the ending you think sounds the most fun – it’s not a right/wrong answer, and if you enjoyed Elden Ring enough to play it to the end, there’s always New Game Plus. trying a different finale…?
