“The focus is on staying in the Premier League” – Leeds United new boss Jesse Marsch begins his challenges

Leeds United are not having a great season in the Premier League. Whites are on the wrong side of the table and are just above the relegation line. Former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa helped the Whites secure a place in the Premier League last season after spending almost 20 years in the Championship. Bielsa’s team had a very good first season after returning to the League, finishing in 9th place and playing offensive football.

However, things did not go as planned this year and numerous injuries to their main players have seen Leeds United fight for survival with other clubs just above the relegation zone. Leeds are currently 16th in the Premier League table and just 2 points above the relegation zone. Whites played 2 more games than other teams in the fight.

Marcelo Bielsa’s team played offensive football and therefore Leeds United conceded a lot of goals against the teams. The Whites conceded 4 goals against their main rivals Manchester United in February, then conceded 6 more at Liverpool, and then conceded 4 more against Tottenham Hotspur. This confirmed his dismissal Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds United confirmed the sacking of Marcelo Bielsa earlier this week after the team suffered a heavy loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. The club soon confirmed the appointment of American coach Jesse Marsch, who has a contract until 2025. Jesse Marsch talked about his new club in his latest interview.

Jesse Marsch” I am not perfect. The only way I know how to do things is to risk everything, give everything I have, believe in who I am and with whom I work, and maximize what we are every day. If you do this effectively, you can be incredibly surprised at the human spirit and what you can accomplish…. Sounds like Ted Lasso!”

Marsch also said: It would be wrong to say that this club has been Americanized. Everyone here has a different vision of what this club is and will be, and 49ers or me side notes. But I think my ethos suits the team and the city very well.”

The American executive added, ” Where I come from, Milwaukee in Wisconsin reminds me of Leeds. My father worked in the factory for 32 years. Working hard is all I know. I was here until 9 pm last night to talk about tactics and things we think need to change.”

We must change quickly and find success quickly. I didn’t want Marcelo to go out like this. I wanted to see him continue and finish his legacy to keep the team afloat. I wanted to have this discussion with Victor when he called me. But I could see the team suffering, so I had to worry about it. My focus is not on thinking about the Championship. My focus is staying in the Premier League,” Marsch said when asked about his appointment.

Finally, the American concluded his words as follows: I know there is a group of people who might not accept me so well because of their love for Marcelo. But I want to show that he is as good as Marcelo and that the team and the players are also good. I don’t have to be Marcelo Bielsa. I need to be myself.”
