Antonio Conte’s tenure at Tottenham started off on a pretty positive run with just one loss in 11 games, but it was just time before cracks started to appear. Since those games, Tottenham have lost five of their last eight games, while their final defeat to Southampton and Wolves has come in part as a result of defensive errors by the north Londoners.
talking Sky ItalyThe head coach reflected back on these mistakes and said that they were the result of a lack of self-confidence and compared the situation to his arrival at Inter Milan in 2019, which at the time had not won a trophy for nearly a decade.
“Comparison is always difficult to make, but when you’re on a team that hasn’t won for a long time, it’s inevitable that you’re not confident in yourself,” said Antonio Conte.
“Confidence collapses and you often throw yourself down at the first hurdle, and often the negativity gets worse. Sometimes you set goals that you find difficult to accept.
“This has happened to us recently. This is part of the process of a team that has to grow a lot to try to be competitive.
“We are one of the many teams that are stuck in the middle right now. They have to work hard and that doesn’t scare me at all.
“Definitely compared to the past, it is inevitable that the situation will be very different for me in terms of perspectives, ambitions, struggle to win. I have already realized that this is a completely different situation.”

Antonio Conte thinks Tottenham players are too emotional
After the loss to Southampton last week, the Tottenham manager said the team had improved but the players were “very emotional”.
“Of course, we are improving in many ways right now, but we are still very emotional.
“We won 3-2 against Leicester and lost 2-1. Today we won 2-1 and lost 3-2.“
Still, Tottenham is in the race to get into the top 4 in the Premier League and there are very important games for the North London team. Tottenham face the undefeated Premier League champions and league leaders Manchester City in their last 10 games.
