Real Madrid are locked in talks with Monaco over the signing of Aurelien Tchouameni, but the two clubs differ slightly in their midfielder assessments at the moment. The 22-year-old is gaining a lot of attention from all over Europe after another stellar season in Ligue 1, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain particularly keen.
However, Aurelien Tchouameni told his Monaco teammates that his priority, according to Fabrizio Romano’s Caught Offside column, is to join Real Madrid.
He goes to the Santiago Bernabeu after deciding to join Real Madrid as Monaco allows Tchouameni to freely choose his next club choice, and now only a fee needs to be agreed between the clubs.
However, Real Madrid is currently unwilling to pay more than 60m euros for the midfielder, while AS Monaco is keeping 80m euros. Talks are expected to accelerate after the Champions League final between Madrid and Liverpool, which will be played on 28 May at Stade de France in Paris.

Why are Real Madrid so interested in signing Aurelien Tchouameni?
After failing to sign with Kylian Mbappe, one of the biggest transfer stories of the last few years, Real Madrid began to strengthen other key areas of their team, including the midfield, which is made up of aging but evergreen players like Toni Kroos. Luke Modric and Casemiro.
If you substitute Tchouameni for Casemiro, he does a lot on defense and with the ball, you can expect him to be resistant to the press and make the right decision most of the time.
Obviously there are ways it could improve further, but at least for now, this will work just fine. If Tchouameni plays, Real Madrid has less responsibility on the ball, which allows other midfielders like Camavinga, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos to go forward and do what they have to do without worrying too much about the defense.
