Liverpool star Mohamed Salah thinks his team may have felt overconfident before the second leg of the round of 16 will face Italian giants Inter Milan.
Liverpool made it to the quarter-finals UEFA Champions League Despite losing 1-0 to Inter with a 2-1 overall score, however, the Reds’ performance was far from satisfactory. Liverpool are considered one of the biggest favorites to win the European Cup, but this performance against an average Inter team at Anfield certainly casts doubt on whether Liverpool can regain their European glory.
Speaking to BT Sport after the match, Mohamed Salah admitted that his side was overconfident and that this defeat was “necessary”.
“Maybe we should start over [again]We win games,” said the Reds, who saw their 12-game winning streak come to an end.
“We lost a game, maybe that will push us a little harder. Maybe in the back of our minds, we felt overconfident at that moment.
“So I think it’s a good game for us, learn from it and move on.”
Number 11 showed his mentality as he added the words: “I hit the mission twice! It’s okay, maybe I’ll score three goals in the next game.
“I don’t care as long as the team wins the game or qualifies.”
Salah added Liverpool’s desire to win the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
“Everybody wants to win the Champions League and Premier League” he continued.
“We’ll fight for both and we’ll see.”

Klopp assesses Liverpool’s defeat at Anfield
Jürgen Klopp revealed some of his wisdom from his assistant Peter Krawietz in a speech to reporters after Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan in the Champions League.
“Those can happen, but you have to make sure you don’t do it again and be better next time.” said.
“We could have played better but not much better because the opponent was really good. The art of football is to lose the right games. If there is one game we can afford to lose, it’s tonight because the main goal of this competition is to pass.
“But not because I’m sitting here on the moon.”
Klopp said: “It’s fair that we’re done against a really strong opponent and now let’s move on. We deserved to go over two feet but we had some issues tonight and one of them was the quality of the opposition.”
Liverpool are in some very important matches where the race for the Premier League title is heating up. The Reds will head to Falmer Stadium to play Brighton, and a win will put Klopp’s men back within touching distance of Manchester City.
