Manchester United face off against Middlesbrough in the fourth round of the FA Cup and Chris Wilder says his team has come to Old Trafford to make it competitive and dangerous for Manchester United. However, Wilder is also aware of the individual qualities that Manchester United have and that they can hurt them at any time during the match.
“They have great individuals who can hurt you and hurt teams in Europe and the Premier League. Lots of talent to choose from.” said Wilder.
Wilder also forbade his players from changing jerseys with Cristiano Ronaldo after the match, and warned his players not to be blindfolded when their team sheets come off because they are here to win, not to see. Wilder knows his team has clearly failed but it wouldn’t come as a shock to him if Middlesbrough manages to beat United at Old Trafford.
“It’s not a trip for our players. It’s not a shirt change situation. I don’t want people going to Old Trafford to enjoy this visit. If they want a shirt, do it later in the dressing rooms. We don’t want to look at them all with misty eyes. They’re facing an opponent.”
Wilder, who took over from Neil Warnock and has eight wins in 12 games, added that the team will give everything for 9000 traveling fans and many more people to watch on TV.
“Playing well is a must for our 9,000 fans at the game and those watching on TV. We have to be ambitious and aggressive when we have a chance to cause them trouble.”wild
