with goals scored Vinicius Jr., Modricand Eden Hazardrecent European champions real Madrid loser Celtic 3-0 to start their new campaign. Celtic stood alone against Carlo Ancelotti’s team despite losing their captain and talisman by injury in the first half. However, Los Blancos opened it up in the second half and scored all three of their goals to start Group F as they finished last season.
And as always, it was Modric who kept Real afloat. After Benzema was removed from the game, the Croatian captain took over the captaincy and dominated the match in Glasgow. It’s hard to imagine that the 37th birthday of the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner is just around the corner pinging the ball easily.
At the clock mark, he teamed up with Eden Hazard to give Real a two-goal advantage. He finished it off nicely with the outside of his foot. When Marco Asensio came in for the former Spurs player in the 80th minute, the entire stadium applauded him.
This is Modric’s fourth standing ovation of the year, and the top three couldn’t help but applaud one of the big ones from opposition supporters far from home.
