After supporting the CWplus charity during his time at Chelsea, Antonio Rudiger made a surprise visit to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital to say goodbye. The Chelsea defender will join Real Madrid in the summer but has managed to surprise hospital staff and patients before leaving officially.
The 29-year-old spent an entire afternoon giving gifts, signing autographs and posing for the CW+ charity.
He visited patients in the children’s ward and also thanked the intensive care unit staff for their efforts during the Covid-19 pandemic. This isn’t the first time the kind-hearted Rudiger has shown his gratitude for all the good work the hospital has done.
On his birthday last year, Chelsea’s defender sent cakes and soft drinks to the hospital staff as a token of his appreciation for their efforts. During his five-year spell at Stamford Bridge, he was eager to support the hospital.
After helping spread joy at the hospital during his visit, Rudiger said: “I have enjoyed visiting Chelsea and Westminster Hospital today and over the years.“
“It has always been important to me to go out into the community and show my support, and once again it has been a real pleasure to meet both patients and staff who have been such an inspiration. The hospital and staff are incredible and work tirelessly to provide the best possible care – thank you for everything you do – I will miss you all!” The German defender concluded.

Antonio Rudiger transferred to Real Madrid
German defender Antonio Rudiger, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June, has made a move to join Los Blancos through their manager and is expected to arrive at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer. However, Rudiger’s move to the La Liga team is not official yet, as the club is expected to make a statement after the Champions League final on 28 May.
Rudiger is expected to play for Real Madrid under the leadership of Karim Benzema, who could become the official captain of the Los Blancos after Marcelo’s departure next season. The German is expected to match David Alaba in the central defender position.
