The Killjoy’s turret is an essential tool for any team as it starts firing at any opponent within its range, while also reporting the enemy’s position to the team that placed it. This is why the error sparked so much controversy in the VCT, causing the turret to face the opposite direction, causing XSET to miscommunicate for the round and lost.
The turret was placed by XSET AYRIN for A Short on round 24 of Ascent, the third map of the match. XSET spiked and was almost on the books as the round was won by them. FPX players ANGE1 and Shao were trying to beat the A Short and attempt to capture the round for their team.
At that moment, after firing several shots at ANGE1, the turret clogged and turned towards Haven, causing XSET to believe FPX was an attempt to retreat from that direction. This erroneous information allowed top FPX to outperform XSET in the round and ultimately the entire match.

Despite the replay, FPX continued to win the match and was eventually eliminated from Champions 2022 by DRX in a 2-0 sweep of the Lower Bracket. 3rd round.
