Fortnite players were confused after finding a mysterious countdown in the in-game Fortnite lobby. The final season of Episode 3 is about to end and the blasts are ready to say goodbye. But behind the countdown there are some unanswered questions.
Season 4 will end on December 3. With less than 2 weeks left until the end of Episode 3, players are pretty confident that the phase needed to end the current map is already in place. The live event will result in extended downtime and Epic Games will release Fortnite Chapter 4 immediately.
Countdowns like this often mark big events, and players expect something big to come back.

Why does Fortnite have a countdown timer?
When the players matched the countdown to the calendar, they saw that the countdown was basically for the season finale called Fracture. The current Fortnite countdown will end on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 13:00 PT / 16:00 ET / 21:00 GMT. Fracture live final event will start at this time. Epic Games said it will be an “extraterrestrial and unexpected social event” where players will “decide the fate of the Island”.

The timer appears in two places, in the lobby and in the in-game world. It’s safe to say that this countdown is only for the breakout live event to drop. After this live event is complete, the game’s servers will be down for maintenance and the game will go live as Epic Games prepares for the start of Fortnite Chapter 4. The live event will begin on December 3 and Episode 4 will begin on December 4, 2022. • The live event and the start of the new episode will be simultaneous around the world.
This event will only last 40 minutes and is a one-time only. Players must be present in the game before starting to participate in the live event. To be on the safe side, skip 30 minutes before. The previous story live events were a blast, so fans can prepare to be amazed by this one too!
