Jetpacks may be making their way back to Fortnite, this time with gliding abilities, according to leaks. Jetpacks were added to the hugely popular battle royale game for a limited time a few years ago and are just one of several unique gameplay changes in Fortnite.
Fortnite has seen more changes than most when it comes to free-to-play live service games. Epic Games’ hugely popular multiplayer game is gaining a lot of attention from the gaming world for its ever-changing content, which includes everything from new outfits to completely new maps.
Fortnite may add new features to its core gameplay from time to time, with obvious examples such as skins and vehicles. The most recent change to the Fortnite model was the elimination of the notorious building mechanic that had thrown the game’s action moment-by-moment into disarray. Over time, new mobility mechanics such as Spider-Man web shooters and new transition alternatives that allow for challenges were implemented.

Jetpack rumored to be returning to Fortnite
According to HYPEX, another change in movement may be on the way (via PCGamesN). Jetpacks are scheduled to return during the Fortnite season and will spawn in IO bubbles, according to HYPEX’s tweet featuring a video from Postboxpat. According to the tweet, a new navigation function will allow players to shoot while in the air. HYPEX has not given a specific date for when this new feature will be available.
All leaks should be handled with care, but there is reason to suspect this material is true. For starters, HYPEX has a good track record when it comes to leaks, as it accurately reported Fortnite additions like tanks before they were officially announced. Postboxpat’s video following HYPEX’s tweet is more believable as it doesn’t look like a modified or staged image and matches all the facts HYPEX has provided regarding jetpacks.
It is unclear whether the jetpacks will be temporary or permanent if implemented. Despite their popularity, Spider Web Man’s marksmen were eventually removed from the game. Fortnite, and it’s possible for jetpacks to do the same. Alternatively, these pickups can work well with the game’s primary gameplay architecture so they can stay in the game. However, the game’s long-term future is uncertain, and the game’s creators will expect a lot more surprises for players beyond this hypothetical new transitional element.
