In Modern Warfare 2, players are busy completing challenges to earn Mastery Camos as rewards while trying to acquire weapons and attachments. The game has been released on all platforms worldwide. This time around, Infinity Ward has reduced the number of levels each weapon has while extending the time it takes to progress.
With the introduction of the Weapon Platform, the developers also changed how new weapons are obtained. Unlike the previous system where leveling up the account was all that was needed, players now need to acquire certain weapons in order to unlock more weapons in a weapon tree. However, a bug in the game allows players to level up quickly even without using their weapons.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Glitch lets you level up weapons
This glitch is not well known, as the game has only been available for a few days, and given the amount of game-breaking bugs in Modern Warfare 2, it may not be high on Infinity Ward’s list of changes to make. All weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, even melee like Combat Knife and Riot Shield, can be quickly leveled up with this glitch without even needing to use them.
Here is a guide to access this glitch-
- Players must be at least Level 4 to activate the Special Builds function required to use this glitch.
- Create a new class in the “Weapons” tab and then add the weapon you want to level up to the max. It can enter the primary slot or the secondary slot.
- in the main menu Modern Warfare 2, select the “Ground War” multiplayer mode. This glitch works in this mode and no other game modes.
- Start a brand new Ground War game.
- Before spawning, select the weapon and gear you need to level up.
- After spawning, be the first to enter a Light Tank or APC vehicle at the start of the Ground War game.
- When you get into one of the vehicles, you want to have the weapon you want to level up. Without doing this, the glitch won’t work.

Now, all XP that players get through the vehicle will go to the level of the weapon. Every kill you use a Light Tank or APC and every target you complete will count towards weapon XP.
Each target the player captures in the vehicle grants them up to 250 XP, and each kill grants them up to 100 XP. As it’s a glitch, it’s not designed to load into the weapon’s XP.
