One of the biggest hits of the 1990s and early 2000s was the “Power Rangers” series. Currently, there are several formations of Rangers with different abilities, stories and, most importantly, Megazords.
Furthermore, it is undeniable that the original lineup, made up of Jason, Zack, Trini, Billy and Kimberly, is the most famous and popular among fans of the franchise.
Later, there was the implementation of Tommy Oliver as the evil Green Ranger, who, after a series of events, redeemed himself and became the White Ranger.
Unfortunately, Jason David Frank, the actor who brought the character to life, who later appeared in several seasons as different Rangers, passed away in 2022.
However, Jason was not the only actor from the original group to pass away. That’s because Thuy Trang, the actress who played the Yellow Ranger, Trini Kwan, also passed away, although longer ago, in 2001.
But currently, fans of the series will see these characters again in the thirty-year anniversary special that Netflix is producing.
New Red Ranger in the comics
However, the Netflix special is not the only place fans of the series can catch up on “Power Rangers”. After all, there are also comics that accompany stories from the original composition.
And in these comics, readers got a surprise in the last few issues, as Jason, the Red Ranger, found himself unable to use his morpher after the events of issue #100.
Of course, this came as a shock to both the audience and the characters. However, Jason decided to take advantage of the situation and then leave his duties as a Ranger and dedicate himself to an ordinary life.
As everyone who has watched the series knows, the Red Ranger is considered the leader of the teams. Therefore, it was necessary for another character to take on this role, and this ended up happening with Trini Kwan.
Few people expected that it would be Trini, the Yellow Ranger, who would take on the role of team leader, but she did, and in the last edition she proved that this was the correct choice.
In issue nº 106, the character was in a clash against Alpha-1, who attacked the Rangers on the planet Safehaven. In order to destabilize the character, Alpha-1 begins to demoralize her, saying the following words:
“Trini Kwan… You disappoint me. But I guess I shouldn’t be surprised… You were never smart like Billy Cranston… Never brave like Jason Scott… Never agile like Zack Scott… Or cunning like Kimberly Hart. You were always just…Yellow.”
As can be seen, the character treats Trini as average, who has nothing special, being “just” Yellow (synonymous for “basic”). However, in the end, we see Trini quickly coming up with a successful plan to defeat Alpha-1, demonstrating that she is intelligent and cunning.
Furthermore, Trini was the only one on the battlefield fighting outside of a Zord, which also demonstrates her courage and agility. In this way, she proves to Alpha-1 that she is indeed worthy of the position, without even having to say a word against the robot.
