Everyone is in shock! Yesterday (22), Spyglass surprised fans by announcing Melissa Barrera’s departure from ‘Scream 7‘ after the actress expressed support for Palestine and condemned Israel’s genocide.
Shortly thereafter, the portal Deadline confirmed that Jenna Ortega, one of the highlights of ‘Scream 6’, will also not be in the seventh film.
Of course, after this news, everyone was waiting for an explanation. That’s when rumors began to spread about the real reason for this turn of events.
The main reason, according to the aforementioned portal, is that Jenna Ortega would have rebelled against the dismissal of his co-worker and, therefore, ended up leaving the franchise. Despite this, there is a but behind this.
Now, the fact is that ‘Scream’ fans are trying to understand in detail what happened to generate all this confusion behind the scenes.

Reason for Jenna Ortega’s departure is different
Contrary to what everyone was speculating, the actress’s departure is not related to Melissa Barrera’s dismissal nor to the actress’s request to end her contract with the franchise.
In fact, Ortega’s decision not to participate in the next film was discussed before the actors’ strike.
With a script yet to be completed and the actress set to film the second season of ‘Wandinha‘ in Ireland in April, scheduling conflicts were cited as the reason for not returning.
Director Christopher Landon (‘Happy Death Day’) expressed sadness over the firing, stressing that it was not his decision.
The issue involving Melissa Barrera and her social media posts about the Israel-Hamas War has been confirmed by major websites such as The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline.
In the published story, she states that, at the end of the day, she would rather be excluded for having included someone, than be included in something by someone who excluded her.

Barrera was the star of the last two films, playing protagonist Sam Carpenter, the illegitimate daughter of Billy Loomis and a frequent target of Ghostface.
There were rumors that the film would reunite all the survivors of the franchise, including Neve Campbell and Patrick Dempsey (‘Grey’s Anatomy’) as Mark Kincaid.
Filming on the seventh film is expected to begin in March 2024, and there are rumors that the release could take place in October 2025, depending on when the actors’ strike ends.
