Picard will be back in new ‘Star Trek’ adventure

Star Trek‘ is, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the greatest science fiction productions ever created in history.

The story of the Enterprise and its courageous crew captured the hearts of countless fans around the world and still captivates the public’s attention today.

The work even included big names in its cast during the first seasons, such as actor Leonard Nimoy, famous for playing Mr. Spock, the ship’s first officer and member of the Vulcan race.

We can also mention the iconic Captain James T. Kirk, played at the time by Canadian actor William Shatner, responsible for commanding the team and protagonist of most of the adventures.

Although this classic formation is memorable, over time new versions of the plot were made.

Consequently, the cast of actors was modified and British Patrick Stewart, the same man who gave life to Professor Charles Xavier in the ‘X-Men’ franchise, played Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

Currently, the celebrity is already 83 years old, but he stated that he will soon return to the cinema, reviving his old role in a feature film.

How will Picard fit into the ‘Star Trek’ script?

According to Patrick himself, the new script is in production and focuses especially on Captain Picard. The actor had already returned to act in the series ‘Star Trek: Picard‘ produced by the streaming platform Paramount+.

Needless to say, this announcement left fans very excited and the information was published on the podcast ‘Happy Sad Confused’, on January 8th.

The program was recorded in November last year, when the celebrity was promoting his biography.

“Once we finished shooting seven seasons of ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation,’ we still made four ‘Star Trek’ movies. For me, ‘First Contact’, directed by Jonathan Frakes, is the best.Frakes was one of the people who most influenced me on the series due to his experience and understanding, as well as the way he brings different qualities to the stage, which is pretty important in terms of diversity and change,” Stewart said.

He also revealed that he is very excited about the possibility of reviving a character so beloved by the public and highlighted that it would be very interesting to act in theaters again, especially at the age of 83, as the film market tends to have some age prejudices.

Patrick also spoke about the reasons that made him accept the invitation in the series that was made before and cites an interaction with the producer of ‘Star Trek: Picard‘, Akiva Goldsman, about the changes in his own life over the last 20 years.

For example, in the adaptation, the captain of the Enterprise left command of the ship and was promoted to admiral. Therefore, the idea was to show what his return to planet Earth was like after his retirement full of Star Fleet decorations.

Regarding the film that should be released, the celebrity did not reveal many details about whether the film will go to theaters or will be shown on streaming channels.

Remembering that there are other projects related to the franchise that must be broadcast directly by Paramount+.
