The series ‘Peaky Blinders’ is a huge hit on Netflix, and if it were up to the actors involved, it would be adapted into other formats.
That, at least, was what was clear in the recent speech by actor Cillian Murphy, who plays the iconic character Thomas Shelby.
The star revealed that he would love to make a film based on the series, during an interview on the ‘Actors on Actors’ section, promoted by Variety. He was in front of his colleague Margot Robbie, star and producer of ‘Barbie’.
When asked about ‘Peaky Blinders’, Cillian said that taking part in the production was an adventure that lasted 10 years and he would not hesitate to act in a spin-off of the series. The ‘Oppenheimer’ star therefore referred to a film.
Actress Margot Robbie reacted enthusiastically to the actor’s words: “Please do it! Please! Now I’ve revealed that I’m a big fan of yours,” she expressed.

Cillian Murphy still thinks that there is still more to tell in the story of ‘Peaky Blinders’ and, therefore, he would be open to making a possible film.
It is worth remembering that production ended in 2022, after six seasons — all available on Netflix. It was considered one of the most successful and most praised drama series in recent years.
The first season of ‘Peaky Blinders’ premiered in 2013. The script tells the story of an English gang from 1919, which is experiencing its moment of ascension. The gang is led by Thomas Shelby, a character played by Murphy, who is capable of anything for power.
This isn’t the first time that buzz surrounding a possible film has surfaced. In 2021, series creator Steven Knight also spoke about his interest in making a feature-length spin-off of the story. Could it be on the horizon?
‘Barbie’ vs. ‘Oppenheimer’
The meeting between Murphy and Margot Robbie It also served as an opportunity for the two to talk about the clash between the films ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ in the box office competition. After all, the two debuted together in the cinema.
The actress, who in addition to starring in the film, also produced the work about the famous doll, revealed that she received a curious call.
The producers of ‘Oppenheimer’ have reportedly reached out to her to change the theatrical release date.
Margot decided to keep the release date and told the producer of the “rival film”: “We are not going to change the date. If you are so afraid of facing us, then you change the date of your film.” Thus, both films were released in July 2023 and achieved good results.
