Unfortunately for Star Wars fans, it looks like we’ll have to be patient before we discover the rest of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s adventures. Director Deborah Chow said in an interview with Deadline that the status of the series hasn’t changed much and that there are no plans to add more episodes at the moment. But, leaves the door open to future adventuresConsidering that there is a ten-year gap between the end of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the events of Star Wars: A New Hope.
As a reminder, the Obi-Wan Kenobi television series was originally a movie project. But after the financial disappointment of Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm decided to focus on television series. Rather than abandoning Obi-Wan Kenobi entirely, The project was redesigned as a limited series. Therefore, during the filming of the first season, season 2 was not yet in the cards.
Lucasfilm is currently in development Projects after Kenobi’s death or before he became a Jedi. So even if season 2 isn’t on the horizon, it’s always possible to explore Kenobi’s history in other ways. It’s not yet clear whether the series will qualify for a second season, but we’ll let you know as soon as we know more.
