Obi-Wan Kenobi is definitely one of the most popular Disney+ series of the moment. While not all have had the same success, the latter joins the ranks of the Star Wars franchise, with The Mandalorian receiving excellent reception from fans and critics alike. It also raises the possibility of a sequel as the season comes to an end this season.
At first glance, and given the way Season 1 has ended, that seems highly unlikely. Indeed (beware, you’re entering spoilers), the final episode concludes with Obi-Wan’s return to Tatooine after rescuing Princess Leia and fighting Darth Vader. Therefore, all the elements are present to make the transition to Star Wars IV: A New Hope.
Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi is already talking about him
However, Disney+ is not closing the door to season 2. LucasFilms CEO Kathleen Kennedy says: “To be honest, we had planned to make it a limited series. But I think if the turnout is big enough and people really want more Obi-Wan, we’ll definitely consider it because the fans are talking to us. And if we feel there is a real reason to do it, that it answers the reason, then we do it. But we’ll see. »
One thing is for sure, the question is being discussed within the production team. The director of the show, Deborah Chow, is actually more cautious about the idea: “I think if this is going to continue, there must be a really good reason.” Therefore, there is still uncertainty and it is too early to draw hasty conclusions. Anyway, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen are already ready to don their costumes for season 2.
