Max, formerly known as HBO Max, allows users to avoid price increases for now, unlike Netflix, which has revised its prices upwards. However, this will not happen for free. The streaming giant informed users via email: Its ad-free offering, currently $15.99 per month, has had its functionality reduced.
Beginning on December 5, the date of the next billing cycle, Users of the ad-free offer will only be able to stream on two devices at a time. Currently they can use up to three. That’s not all, because there’s less good news.
Max gets 4K ad-free from its subscription, you’ll have to pay more
The worst part is that Users will only be able to watch their favorite content in Full HD. Until now, subscribers could view select content in 4K HDR and Dolby Vision. So unless you upgrade to a higher offer, you’ll have to make do with lower image quality on this subscription.
In fact, subscribers will always be able to: To enjoy 4K, subscribe to “Ultimate” subscription for $19.99 per month. This extra $ 4 per month is unlikely to please happy owners of compatible TVs.
Note that downloads are not affected by this change: Former and existing ad-free customers can save up to 30 titles on supported devices for offline viewing when there is no internet connection.
Max’s cheapest tier, “with ads,” costs $9.99 per month and doesn’t include offline downloads. It offers two simultaneous streams and HD image quality.
While Max is one of the few streaming services that hasn’t increased its price recently, the service has been removing content throughout the year as a cost-cutting measure. Now we’ll see how these changes will affect the French version of the platform, which should be released here next year.
