Marvel Reveals Women’s Month Variant Covers for ‘Star Wars’

As everyone knows, unfortunately we live in a society full of defects and problems. One of these biggest problems is male oppression over women. women. Over the last few years, there have been reports of various types of abuse involving women.

In fact, there is still a lot of sexism in the world today, but thanks to many strong women who fight against it, compared to the past, the situation is slightly better.

One of the achievements of women, in this case, women in the United States, was the official declaration made in 1980 by the president for National Women’s History Week, which began on March 8 of that year.

This was due to the Education Task Force of the Sonoma County Commission on the Status of Women, which, in 1978, organized to build resistance to the abuses suffered by women.

This achievement by the American women led, years later, to the declaration of March as Women’s Month in the United States. As a result, the UN declared March 8th as International Women’s Day.

Celebration in comics

Being such an important date and month for women’s history, large media companies like Marvel cannot let the date go by unnoticed.

So, to celebrate Women’s Month, Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm, responsible for distributing “Star Wars” products, released some alternative covers for the franchise’s comic book series.

The illustrations will be done by artist Peach Momoko, winner of two awards for Cover Artist, both in 2021 – one by EISNER and another by RINGO, according to the artist’s official website.

Born in Japan, the artist has mangaka traits in her works that are somewhat reminiscent of the Japanese animation style of the 90s. Fitting perfectly with the theme and history of the franchise.

Below, you can check out the publications that featured the artist’s work during the month of March, as well as the images released by Marvel Comics of some of the alternative covers.
