The film ‘The World After Us’ premiered on Netflix on Friday (8) and is already causing a stir. Inspired by the book of the same name, written by Rumann Alam, the production has attracted attention and is already in the platform’s Top 10.
The plot has as its backdrop a catastrophic crisis that shakes humanity and, at the same time, talks about other current issues, such as Tesla cars, one of the companies owned by the billionaire. Elon Musk.
The scene that shows the brand’s cars is one of the scariest in the film. It is shocking because of the way in which a real disaster happens before the characters and the audience.

Tesla vehicles were included in the film without the production getting permission from the brand. The filmmaker responsible for the film, Sam Esmail, said in a recent interview that he simply had the idea for the scene and that Netflix approved it.
The film addresses how technology impacts individual decisions and also how it can become a real villain. In the case of Tesla, it is worth remembering that the brand’s big news in recent years has been autonomous cars.
In the scene portrayed in the film ‘The World After Us’, it is as if we are all witnessing a kind of “revolt of the machines”. It all starts after a cyber attack creates tremendous chaos in New York City and its surroundings.
In short, people are beginning to realize that they no longer know how to live without the internet and its facilities, and that is where the narrative journey that leads to the scene with the Tesla cars begins.
The tragic scene (warning: spoiler ahead!)
At a certain point in the film, the character Amanda, played by actress Julia Roberts, decides to take her children Archie (Charlie Evans) and Rose (Farrah Mackenzie) to her sister’s house in New Jersey.
Amanda completely ignores the warnings about traffic jams and dangers on the road, and decides to go ahead with the plan. Halfway there, however, she and her children come across a line of cars Tesla Model 3all completely empty.
The character soon realizes that they are autonomous cars, and more than that, she also sees that one of them starts to drive towards her Jeep.
The mother demonstrates skill behind the wheel and manages to get rid of this first attack, but notices that all the other Tesla cars around are about to do the same and attack. Several vehicles were destroyed after the “revolt” of the brand’s cars.
The company has not yet commented on the scene in the film, nor has it spoken about the fact that the cars were portrayed as villains.
